XYZ Racing Top Sport Coilovers — Dodge STEALTH 1992-1999

The Dodge Stealth’s twin-turbo VR-4 sibling to the 3000GT carries a serious weight problem – around 1,720kg on the R/T Turbo – and the factory ECS air suspension was complex, heavy, and is now mostly a liability on cars that have crossed 200,000 miles. Owners keeping a DO04 Stealth on the road in 2026 are usually doing it as a labour of love, and the suspension is one of the first systems to need a proper rethink.

The Top Sport coilover is XYZ Racing’s answer for a Stealth that sees the occasional track day but still has to handle a school run. It replaces the factory damper and spring with a rebuildable monotube setup, sheds noticeable unsprung mass over the original ECS hardware, and gives you back the adjustability the chassis always deserved.

What this coilover does for your 1992-1999 Dodge Stealth

Drop the Top Sport into a tired DO04 and the first thing you notice is body control – the nose stops diving on initial brake application, and that vague mid-corner float the Stealth develops as the factory dampers wear simply disappears. The 36-way damping adjustment lets you run the car softer for B-road work where the long wheelbase rewards compliance, then firm it up for a circuit session without changing a spring. Ride height adjustment is independent of preload, so you can lower the car for the look without pre-loading the springs into a harsh setup. For a 4WD Stealth especially, the improved damper response transforms how the car puts power down out of slow corners, where the factory setup tended to load and unload the outside rear in a way that pushed the front wide.

About the Top Sport coilover

Top Sport sits in XYZ Racing’s range as the lane between pure street and full circuit. Spring rates run roughly 2kg/mm stiffer than the street-biased setup, and damping is wound up by 30 to 50 percent over the comfort tune – enough to absorb a kerb strike on a track day without the car ringing afterwards, and enough to keep the tyre planted when you hit mid-corner surface changes. The damper body is monotube, the upper mounts are pillowball on most applications for sharper steering response, and the whole assembly is rebuildable rather than disposable. XYZ developed the Top Sport spec out of their own racing programme, and the tune is aimed squarely at drivers who use their car hard but still need to drive it home. Construction is what you would expect at this end of the market – hardened internals, serviceable seals, and adjustment that holds its setting under heat.
