XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Dodge STEALTH 1992-1999

The Dodge Stealth’s twin-turbo, all-wheel-drive Mitsubishi 3000GT underpinnings were never meant for gravel stages, but the platform’s active suspension and AWD layout make it a curious candidate for rally conversion – and a brutally unforgiving one if the damping isn’t right. This XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilover is built for that specific job: keeping a 1,700kg-plus AWD GT planted across sandstone, silt and snow without folding under the G-loads the chassis can generate when the turbos light up mid-corner.

Inverted-tube construction, long-stroke shafts and long springs are the headline ingredients here, and they exist for one reason – to keep a heavy, powerful, four-driven-wheel car composed on surfaces the original Stealth engineers never tested against.

What this coilover does for your 1992-1999 Dodge Stealth

The inverted damper body shifts mass lower in the strut and resists the side-loading that destroys conventional coilovers on rutted stages, which matters on a Stealth because the front end carries the V6 plus turbo plumbing and is the first thing to bottom out on a compression. Long-stroke shafts let the suspension actually use its travel rather than crashing into the bumpstops on yump landings or mid-corner ruts. Long springs work with that travel to soak up the high-frequency hits from gravel and stones while still controlling the body in slower weight-transfer events – braking, turn-in, corner exit on full boost. Spring rates are set against rally team data rather than guessed at, which on an AWD platform of this weight is the difference between a car that rotates on lift and one that ploughs.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

The Gravel Rally is XYZ Racing’s dedicated rally-cross and stage-gravel damper, and the construction reflects how punishing those events are on hardware. The inverted tube design is the central engineering choice – it places the larger-diameter body at the top of the strut where it acts as the structural member, so side loads from rutted surfaces and rocks aren’t being fed straight into a thin damper rod. Stroke and free spring length are both extended versus a circuit coilover, which is what lets the system absorb the aggressive vertical inputs of a high-speed bouncy road without running out of travel. The damper is engineered to bear extreme G-force during cornering on loose surfaces, where grip arrives and disappears within metres. Every spring rate in the catalogue has been tested by rally teams running this exact product, across sandstone, snow and silt – three surfaces with wildly different compliance characteristics.

Fitment for the Dodge Stealth (1992-1999)

This coilover is built to the DO04 chassis specification covering the full 1992 to 1999 Stealth production run, including the AWD twin-turbo variants where the damping demands are highest. Confirm your specific drivetrain and trim against the configurator before ordering.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

  • Pillow ball + rubber top mountPillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.
  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.
  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
