XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Dodge STEALTH 1992-1999

The Dodge Stealth’s twin-turbo VR4 platform was never light on its feet – 1,700kg of all-wheel-drive GT with four-wheel steering and the engine hung well forward of the front axle. On a sealed stage that mass becomes a liability the moment the road surface stops being flat, and the factory ECS damping was tuned for boulevard compliance, not for keeping a contact patch loaded over a crested second-gear left.

The XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally coilover for the Dodge Stealth is built specifically for that job: absorbing the hits a rally surface throws at a heavy AWD coupé without letting the body float between them. It is the right pick for owners running their Stealth or its Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 sibling on closed-road tarmac events, hillclimbs, and sprints where the surface is paved but punishing.

What this coilover does for your 1992-1999 Dodge Stealth

The headline benefit is composure over broken tarmac. The damping is set up to soak a sharp compression – a patched manhole, a crest, a kerb strike on a stage cut – and then settle the chassis fast enough that you can commit to the next input without waiting for the car to recover. On a Stealth that translates to a front axle that holds its line under trail-braking instead of skating wide, and a rear that stops pogoing out of low-speed corners where the VR4’s torque used to upset it. Body roll is held in check enough to keep the four-wheel-steer geometry working as Mitsubishi intended, rather than running out of useful camber mid-corner. Ride height is adjustable so you can set the car for the stage profile rather than living with the factory’s compromise.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

The Tarmac Rally series is the spec XYZ Racing builds for sealed-surface stage work, and the damping curves come directly from the team’s own tarmac rally programme. The brief is specific: absorb the jolt from large impacts, suppress the secondary body movement that follows, and put the tyre back onto the road as quickly as possible so traction is restored before the next input. That priority – traction recovery over outright stiffness – is what separates a rally-spec damper from a circuit-spec one. Construction is built around repeat-hit durability rather than peak lap-time, with valving chosen to stay consistent as oil temperature climbs across a long stage. Spring and damper rates are matched to the Stealth’s weight distribution and the loads a heavy AWD coupé generates under hard direction changes.

Fitment for the Dodge Stealth (1992-1999)

This kit is built for the Z16A-generation Dodge Stealth (chassis DO04), covering the full 1992 to 1999 production run including the twin-turbo VR4 variants. Fitment is shared with the closely related Mitsubishi 3000GT of the same era. Confirm your chassis code before ordering if the car has been imported or re-registered.
