Loose-surface speed in a front-drive Mazda MX-6 lives or dies on suspension travel, and the first-generation GD car was never given much of it from the factory. The XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover for the Mazda MX-6 (1988-1992) attacks that directly: longer stroke front and rear, a larger buffer zone before the dampers run out of movement, and the oil and gas capacity to survive a full stage.
This is the gravel and snow specification, built for rally and rallycross rather than smooth tarmac. On a 1988-1992 MX-6 that means the chassis can soak up ruts, crests and sudden compressions without crashing through its travel, keeping the front tyres loaded where the MA26 carries most of its weight.
What this coilover does for your 1988-1992 Mazda MX-6
Fit it and the first thing you feel is composure over broken ground. The extended travel gives the MX-6’s front struts room to work, so the nose stops bottoming over crests and the inside-front stays planted through a loose hairpin. The enlarged oil and nitrogen volume keeps damping consistent deep into a run, where a smaller-bodied shock would fade as the fluid heats. Three separate adjustment knobs let you set the car softer for snow and firmer for rutted gravel, and the bigger buffer distance means hard landings are absorbed rather than slammed into the shell. Expect a faint hydraulic note over the sharpest hits – that is the small-orifice valving working, not a fault.
About the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover
The Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover is XYZ Racing’s loose-surface damper, developed for rally and rallycross use. Its defining trait is increased suspension travel at both axles, which builds in a much larger buffer distance to keep the car settled when the surface drops away or throws up a sudden compression. To match that travel, the dampers carry a greater volume of shock oil and nitrogen gas – the core engineering claim – which holds shock stability over a long session and stops the oil overheating and surrendering its damping after sustained hard use. Adjustment runs through three knobs, with a deliberately small oil passage in the valving; over big bumps the fluid forced through that narrow orifice can produce a slight noise, which is normal rather than a sign of wear. XYZ Racing rates the same hardware as capable on sealed circuits too, so the setup is not limited to stages alone.
Fitment for the Mazda MX-6 (1988-1992)
This kit is cut for the first-generation Mazda MX-6, chassis code MA26, across the 1988 to 1992 model years. It mounts to the car’s factory strut locations front and rear. Confirm your chassis code reads MA26 before configuring, since later MX-6 generations use entirely different mounting points.

These MA26-spec kits get harder to source as the cars themselves thin out – set your spring and damping preference and configure yours below.
Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.
Top mounts included with your kit
Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.
Front
Pillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.
Hardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.
Rear
AluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
