XYZ Racing Drag Racing Coilovers — Mazda MX-6 1988-1992

The first-generation Mazda MX-6 drives through its front wheels, which means a drag launch lives or dies on how much weight you can throw onto the nose at the lights. The XYZ Racing Drag Racing coilover is built around that single problem – managing how the MA26 chassis loads and unloads its driven front axle through a 0-400 metre pass.

This is not a fast-road or circuit setup pressed into service. The Drag Racing series is tuned for high launch loads, where the priority is hooking up the front tyres off the line and holding the car steady as speed builds down the strip.

What this coilover does for your 1988-1992 Mazda MX-6

Set up correctly, the coilover lets you bias how the MX-6 transfers weight as the clutch comes up, forcing more compression into the front tyres just as torque arrives. That extra loading is what trims wheelspin and shortens the dead time between launch and the tyre actually gripping. Ride height and corner weights are adjustable, so you can set the stance and balance to suit your tyre and the surface you run on. Further down the strip, the same damping control keeps the 1988-1992 MX-6 settled rather than floating or wandering as load builds, so a strong 60-foot time is not given back through the traps.

About the Drag Racing coilover

The Drag Racing coilover is engineered specifically for 0-400 metre acceleration rather than lap times or back-road pace. XYZ Racing designed the series to work across drivetrain layouts – front, rear and four-wheel drive – with the damping and ride-height settings aimed at shifting the car’s front-to-rear weight balance toward whichever axle puts the power down. On the front-drive MX-6 that means loading the front tyres harder at the instant of launch, forcing greater compression into the contact patch and cutting the idle time before the tyre hooks up. The same calibration is meant to keep the car planted once it is moving quickly, so the advantage won off the line carries through to the top end. Height adjustment lets you tune the launch attitude to your setup.

What buyers also search for

  • Mazda MX-6 drag racing coilovers for quicker, more consistent 60-foot times
  • 1988-1992 MX-6 suspension setup tuned for front-wheel-drive launch traction
  • Height-adjustable coilovers for the MA26 MX-6 to set stance and corner weights
  • Drag-focused damping for the Mazda MX-6 that stays stable at strip speeds

See the spring, damping and ride-height options available for your MX-6 and configure yours below.

The coilovers are specially designed for 0~400 drag racing such as FWD, RWD or 4WD models. The setting allows vehicle to change the front and rear weight according to the transmission wheel in instant driving, and force the transmission tire having greater compression, which can reduce the idle time of wheel and improve the stability of the vehicle under high speed.

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

Front

  • Pillow ball + rubber top mountPillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.
  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.

Rear

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
