XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Honda NSX NA1 1990-2005

The NA1 was Honda’s mid-engined answer to the 911, and three and a half decades on, it remains one of the most chassis-honest cars Japan ever built. The XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally coilover takes that aluminium monocoque and gives it the compliance to absorb broken sealed-stage surfaces without losing the precision that defines how an NSX should steer.

A tarmac rally setup is a specific brief: heavy compression duty on undulating B-road surfaces, crested apexes, mid-corner ruts. For an NA1 owner running sprint stages or historic rally events, this is the coilover spec that lets the C30A or C32B sit further back into the throttle on exit rather than skating across surface imperfections.

What this coilover does for your 1990-2005 Honda NSX NA1

The NSX’s transverse V6 layout puts mass behind the driver and asks the rear suspension to do a lot of work under power. The Tarmac Rally damping curve is calibrated to settle that rear axle quickly after a hit, which is what keeps the tyres loaded and the traction control (or your right foot, depending on year) from cutting power mid-corner. On the front, the increased compression travel handles kerb strikes and surface joints without bottoming the strut. Ride height adjustability lets you keep the underbody clear of stage debris while preserving the geometry the NA1’s double-wishbones were drawn for. The net effect is a car that uses more of its grip envelope on a real surface, not a glass-smooth test track.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

The Tarmac Rally is engineered specifically to absorb the impact of uneven pavement – the brief is sustained shock loading from broken tarmac, not flat circuit work. The damping is tuned to suppress body movement when the car crosses larger bumps and crested surfaces, keeping the tyre’s contact patch loaded through the disturbance. That translation of bump energy into traction rather than chassis pitch is the whole point of the spec, and the settings come from XYZ Racing’s own tarmac rally programme rather than being a softened road damper. Construction is full-coilover with independent ride-height and damping adjustment, so the car can be set for a stage’s surface character without compromising the geometry baseline.

Fitment for the Honda NSX (1990-2005)

This kit is built for the NA1 chassis, covering the 3.0 C30A cars and continuing through the model run to 2005. Both pop-up and fixed-headlight cars are covered within the NA1 designation. Confirm your chassis code against the fitment list before ordering if your car has been imported or has had a drivetrain swap.
