XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Porsche 991 GT3 (without hydraulic lift system) (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2013-2019

The 991 GT3’s rear-mounted flat-six – 3.8 litres in the 991.1, 4.0 in the 991.2 – gives the car a rearward weight distribution that most competition drivers consider an asset on tarmac and a known quantity to manage on loose ground. On gravel, that rear mass fundamentally alters corner entry behaviour: too much trail-braking overloads the front tyres on a surface that offers half the traction of smooth road, and the PASM electronic damping system fitted from the factory was never calibrated for these conditions. The XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilover replaces it entirely, substituting the 991’s adaptive electronics for long-stroke, inverted-tube construction built for exactly this discipline.

Removing the PASM system is not a workaround – it is the specification. The cancellation kit included in this build eliminates the electronic damping circuit, so the suspension responds to mechanical inputs alone. On a gravel stage, where the surface can shift from compacted grit to silt or patchy snow within a single kilometre, that mechanical predictability matters more than any adaptive logic.

What this coilover does for your 2013-2019 Porsche 991 GT3

On rough surfaces, the primary task of any suspension is energy absorption, not geometry optimisation. This kit’s extended spring travel gives the 991’s chassis room to absorb square-edge strikes – rocks, ruts, high-speed crests – without running out of stroke mid-corner, where a standard coilover would bottom out and upset the rear axle. The inverted-tube design reduces unsprung mass relative to a conventional strut arrangement, keeping the rear wheels tracking more accurately over successive rough-surface compressions. Spring rate settings across all four corners have been confirmed through rally racing team testing across sandstone, snow, and silt – the three surface types that impose very different load profiles at each end of a 911.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

The Gravel Rally is XYZ Racing’s discrete specification for rally and rallycross use, where loose-surface racing represents the most mechanically demanding environment a shock absorber will encounter in competition. The inverted-tube construction – damper body above the shaft – increases structural rigidity under the sustained lateral forces generated in high-speed gravel cornering. Long-stroke travel and extended spring length are central to the design: the spring must absorb continuous chassis vibration from broken surfaces and sustain extreme G-forces at speed without reaching its travel limit. All spring rate settings are validated by a rally racing team testing across varied loose-surface conditions, covering the full spectrum from fast, abrasive sandstone to softer snow and silt stages. This is a competition-specification unit, not a road coilover adapted for occasional loose-surface use.

Fitment for the Porsche 991 GT3 (2013-2019)

Chassis code PO17-C covers the complete 991 GT3 production run from 2013 to 2019, spanning both the 991.1 and 991.2 generations. This fitment is specified for cars built without the factory hydraulic front lift system, and includes the cancellation hardware to decommission the PASM electronic damping circuit before installation.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.
