XYZ Racing Racing Spec Coilovers — Mitsubishi ECLIPSE 1995-2000

The second-generation Eclipse’s turbocharged variants arrived carrying genuine competition DNA – the 4G63T that sits in the AWD GSX was the same engine family Mitsubishi ran in Group A, and the DSM community on both sides of the Pacific spent the late 1990s and early 2000s proving how much lap time the MT14 platform had in it. The chassis is capable. What it lacks from the factory is damping calibrated for sustained circuit loading rather than the spirited road use Mitsubishi was actually targeting.

The XYZ Racing Racing Spec coilover for the Mitsubishi Eclipse (1995-2000) was not road-mapped down into a track kit – it was developed from direct participation in competitive motorsport events, including the WTCC, and the calibration reflects that. This is a damper whose settings come from a paddock rather than a test drive.

What this coilover does for your 1995-2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse

The MT14 platform puts significant mass over the front axle, and the factory struts were not engineered for the lateral and longitudinal forces a circuit generates session after session. A Racing Spec-grade damper replaces that setup with one that holds consistent body position through high-speed direction changes – critical on a platform where the nose loads up quickly on braking and can push wide when the front tyres are already working hard.

For AWD GSX builds, front-to-rear spring rate balance is everything. The viscous centre differential responds to corner-entry weight transfer, and a properly configured Racing Spec damper turns the Eclipse’s default understeer tendency into something adjustable and exploitable. On FWD GST builds running power upgrades, where torque steer under acceleration is already a factor, stabilising the front axle through corner exits is where the damper earns its keep.

About the Racing Spec coilover

The Racing Spec is XYZ Racing’s dedicated motorsport fitment – not a heightened version of a road-biased product, but a damper whose entire calibration was obtained through direct involvement in competition, including WTCC-level racing events. The settings are drawn from what works under race conditions, not from what covers the broadest possible market.

Unusually for a production-spec fitment, the Racing Spec is also available in fully bespoke configurations for heavily upgraded or A-class competition vehicles. Owners running significant power modifications, big-brake packages, or aero on the MT14 can supply their full build specification and target circuit; XYZ Racing will configure the dampers to suit. That degree of customisation reflects the level at which this product is genuinely intended to operate.

Fitment for the Mitsubishi Eclipse (1995-2000)

This Racing Spec kit is confirmed for the Mitsubishi Eclipse on chassis code MT14, covering the 1995 to 2000 model year range. Both FWD and AWD drivetrain variants from this generation fall within the fitment window. Verify your current ride-height setup and any existing suspension modifications before ordering; for builds with significant upgrades beyond standard, the bespoke configuration route is worth considering.
