XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Mitsubishi ECLIPSE 1995-2000

The 2G Eclipse’s AWD drivetrain, as fitted to the turbocharged GSX, gave Mitsubishi’s coupe genuine stage potential that its front-drive stablemates simply couldn’t match. On gravel, that potential evaporates quickly if the suspension runs out of travel mid-stage, if spring rates transmit every sandstone corrugation into the cockpit, or if the dampers lose composure through silt and snow. The XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilover for the Mitsubishi Eclipse 1995-2000 is built to keep the chassis working when the road surface is working against you.

Rally Cross sits at the extreme end of what a suspension system is asked to handle – harder on components than circuit racing, more demanding on geometry than any standard road application. This kit is designed with that hierarchy as the baseline.

What this coilover does for your 1995-2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse

The inverted tube construction protects the damper shaft from debris, silt intrusion, and the lateral loading that comes with sustained off-camber terrain. Long-stroke internals paired with extended springs give the Eclipse meaningful wheel travel, which on rough ground translates directly to traction: the wheel staying in contact with the surface drives, brakes, and steers; the one already at full droop does none of those things. Where the standard suspension runs out of composure on broken ground, this kit is built to keep absorbing. On snow or silt stages, where the surface changes character metre by metre, consistent wheel contact is the difference between a clean stage time and a visit to the scenery.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

XYZ Racing developed the Gravel Rally coilover specifically for Rally Racing and Rally Cross, treating both disciplines as the harshest mechanical environment a shock absorber will face. The inverted tube design – with the main body outside and the shaft protected within – is the correct architecture for stages where debris and silt are inevitable rather than occasional. Long stroke and extended springs work in combination to absorb chassis vibration at speed, manage the violent inputs from high-speed bouncing terrain, and handle extreme G-force loading through fast corners. The specification covers the full range of gravel stage surfaces: sandstone, snow, and silt. Every spring rate setting was validated by a Rally Racing team under competitive stage conditions before this kit reached the catalogue.

Fitment for the Mitsubishi Eclipse (1995-2000)

This kit is built for the Mitsubishi Eclipse on the MT14 platform, covering the full 1995-2000 second-generation production run. That spans all derivatives from the naturally aspirated front-drive variants through to the turbocharged AWD GSX – the version most naturally suited to serious stage use.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.
