XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Ferrari PORTOFINO 2017-2026

The Portofino is a front-engined, rear-drive GT with a 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8 sitting low and forward of the bulkhead, and a folding hardtop that adds mass high in the chassis. None of that is a problem on a billiard-table A-road. Point it at a closed sealed-stage tarmac rally over patched, cambered, broken surface and the standard adaptive damping starts running out of answers – the nose loads up, the rear gets light over compressions, and the body resists settling between corners.

That is exactly the brief the XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally coilover for the Ferrari Portofino FE07 was built around. It is a tarmac-stage suspension package, not a track coilover pressed into rally service, and the damping curves come straight out of XYZ’s own tarmac rally programme.

What this coilover does for your 2017-2026 Ferrari Portofino

Fitted to an FE07 Portofino, the first thing you notice is composure over the broken surfaces a stage event throws at you. The damper soaks the hit of a mid-corner ridge or a sunken drain cover without transmitting it through the steering column, so the front tyres stay loaded and the nose keeps tracking the line you chose. Over a series of compressions the body settles in one movement instead of two, which matters on a folding-hardtop GT where unwanted secondary motion at the rear can pitch the car off-throttle. Traction off slow hairpins improves because the rear contact patch is no longer being unloaded by oscillation it cannot control. Steering response sharpens, the front end stops washing wide on turn-in, and the car starts to feel rotational from the middle of the chassis rather than pushed around by its own mass.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

This is a tarmac-rally-specific damper, valved to absorb large single-impact events – kerbs, ruts, expansion joints, broken patches – without the shock body losing control of the wheel. The brief is straightforward: keep tyre traction on uneven sealed surfaces, suppress unwanted body motion, and let the driver feel what the front axle is doing. Every setting is drawn from XYZ Racing’s own tarmac rally competition experience, so the baseline tune already reflects the kind of surface and load case the Portofino will see on a stage, not a generic fast-road compromise rolled out across a hundred chassis.

Fitment for the Ferrari Portofino (2017-2026)

This kit is built specifically to the Ferrari FE07 Portofino chassis, covering the 2017 to 2026 production span. The mounting hardware, strut geometry and damper stroke are matched to the FE07 platform; cross-reference your VIN and production year if your car sits at either end of that range before ordering.
