XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Ferrari PORTOFINO 2017-2026

Pairing a front-engined V8 Ferrari with a gravel-rally damper is, on paper, an absurd proposition – and that is precisely why this kit exists. The Portofino’s F154 twin-turbo V8 puts 591bhp through the rear wheels on a chassis tuned for Mediterranean B-roads and trackday duty, not stage notes. Strip the bodywork mentality away, though, and you have an aluminium-intensive GT with a 50/50-ish weight bias, a transaxle gearbox keeping the rear planted, and the kind of torque delivery that a gravel surface will turn into wheelspin theatre.

The XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilover is built for the hardest surface in motorsport: loose-gravel stage rallying. Long-stroke, long-spring, inverted-tube construction means this is not a fast-road or circuit damper masquerading as something tougher. If you are building a Portofino for hillclimb gravel sections, historic-style demonstration runs, or a one-off rally raid project, this is the relevant suspension architecture.

What this coilover does for your 2017-2026 Ferrari Portofino

On a gravel surface the Portofino’s standard magnetorheological dampers are out of their depth – they are tuned for tarmac compliance, not the violent compression cycles a stage road demands. The Gravel Rally coilover replaces that envelope with proper long-travel suspension that absorbs the high-frequency hits from sandstone and broken surface without packing down. Long spring lengths keep the wheel in contact with the loose surface for longer, which is where traction actually lives on gravel. Inverted-tube damper bodies move the heat-generating valving away from impact loads, so repeat hits across a stage do not fade the damper into mush. Expect a Portofino that finally has the chassis travel to soak up jumps, ruts, and yump landings instead of bottoming hard and skating sideways.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

This is a damper engineered specifically for rally and rallycross use, where the road surface is the most aggressive in any form of motorsport. The inverted-tube design is the structural answer to varied gravel conditions – sandstone, snow, and silt all behave differently under a wheel, and the stiffer outer tube resists side-loading where a conventional damper body would flex. Long stroke and long spring travel are the two non-negotiables for loose-surface racing: they allow the chassis to soak high-speed bouncy roads and tolerate the G-forces that build through long, committed turns on gravel. Spring rate selection across the range has been tested by rally racing teams in competition, not signed off on a workshop dyno. This is, fundamentally, a stage-rally tool that XYZ Racing has made available for road-car platforms that owners want to take somewhere unusual.

Fitment for the Ferrari Portofino (2017-2026)

Confirmed fitment for the Ferrari Portofino, chassis code FE07, model years 2017 through 2026. This covers both the original Portofino and the facelifted Portofino M with its uprated 612bhp V8 and eight-speed DCT. Confirm your VIN before ordering, particularly if your car has been modified from factory ride-height geometry.

If you are building something unusual on the FE07 platform, configure your spring rates and ride height below.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
