XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Honda CIVIC TYPE-R FD2 (Modified Rear Integrated) 2007-2011

The FD2 Civic Type R runs an independent rear end and a naturally aspirated K20A that likes to be worked hard, which is exactly the combination that gets punished on a gravel stage. Standard road dampers can’t cope with sustained high-speed compression over ruts, washboard and loose stone, and on the HN23-1 chassis that weakness shows up fast the moment the surface stops being tarmac.

XYZ Racing’s Gravel Rally coilover kit is built around that exact problem. Where the road-going ranges in this catalogue chase lap time on a smooth circuit, this kit is set up for stage work: absorbing repeated hard hits without the chassis losing composure, on a Civic Type R that was never designed with gravel in mind.

What this coilover does for your 2007-2011 Honda CIVIC TYPE-R FD2 (Modified Rr Integrated)

Fit this kit to your FD2 and the biggest change is how the chassis behaves when the surface drops away under a wheel. The long-stroke damper and long spring combination is built to soak up chassis vibration from sustained washboard sections rather than transmitting it straight into the tub, which matters on a K20A-powered car that’s already asking the front axle to put power down through loose stone. Under hard cornering on gravel, the FD2’s independent rear end needs a damper that can bear extreme lateral G-force without losing control of wheel travel, and that’s specifically what the long-travel setup is engineered to do. Instead of the front-end push a stiffened road setup would introduce over bumps, you get a chassis that stays planted and predictable when the stage surface turns rough, letting you carry more speed into a compression without the car skipping sideways.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

XYZ Racing developed the Gravel Rally range specifically for rally and rallycross use, where the road surface is the most aggressive a car will face in competitive driving – sandstone, snow and silt all demand different damping behaviour from the same shock. To cope with that, the damper uses an inverted tube construction rather than the conventional layout found in the road-going ranges, which changes how the unit copes with debris and repeated shock loading over a stage. A long stroke and long spring work together to absorb chassis vibration and cope with the aggressive, high-speed bouncing a rough gravel section generates, while still holding the car’s composure through the extreme G-force of a fast corner. Every spring rate offered in the Gravel Rally range has been validated by an actual rally racing team rather than set on a rolling road, so the rate you choose has already been proven on a stage, not just a spec sheet.

Fitment for the Honda CIVIC TYPE-R FD2 (Modified Rr Integrated) (2007-2011)

This kit is built for the Honda Civic Type R FD2, chassis code HN23-1, covering the 2007 to 2011 production run. The "Modified Rr Integrated" designation confirms the rear mount configuration this kit is engineered around, so it bolts in without further rear-end modification on cars already specced to that setup. Confirm your logbook shows the HN23-1 chassis code before ordering, as import cars can carry mixed specification.

If your FD2 is heading to a stage rather than a circuit, this is the damper built for that job – pick your spring rate and build yours below.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.

  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.

Rear

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
