XYZ Racing Drag Racing Coilovers — Honda CIVIC TYPE-R FD2 (Modified Rear Integrated) 2007-2011

The FD2 Type R sends its K20A’s power through the front wheels alone, and anyone who has launched one off the line knows the problem: torque steer wants to spin the inside wheel free the instant the clutch bites, and every kilo of weight not sitting over the front axle at that moment is a kilo of traction you don’t have. A road-tuned coilover, built to control body roll mid-corner, is the wrong tool for a straight-line launch.

The XYZ Racing Drag Racing coilover is built around that one moment instead. It’s a dedicated 0-400m setup for the FD2, tuned to manage how the car’s weight shifts front to rear the instant power goes down, rather than how it behaves through Suzuka’s Degner curve.

What this coilover does for your 2007-2011 Honda CIVIC TYPE-R FD2

Launch a stock-sprung FD2 hard and the front end unloads just enough to let the front tyres break traction before the K20A is even into its powerband – on a front-driver, that’s the whole run compromised in the first metre. This kit’s spring and damping settings are calibrated to keep weight compressed onto the front contact patch during that transfer, so the drive tyres load up rather than skate, and the car gets its power down cleanly instead of bogging into wheelspin. Because the settling behaviour is controlled rather than left to stock damping rates, the FD2 holds its line down the strip instead of wandering as weight shifts rearward through the run. The result is a launch that’s repeatable run after run, not a lottery on tyre temperature and driver technique.

About the Drag Racing coilover

This coilover is purpose-engineered for 0-400m drag racing and is offered across FWD, RWD and 4WD applications, with the internal setup on the FD2’s FWD version calibrated specifically to manage front-axle weight transfer under launch rather than a generic rear-biased setting. The core idea is straightforward: by controlling how quickly the car’s weight moves onto the driven wheels the instant the clutch or launch control engages, the kit forces the drive tyre into a harder, more even compression against the tarmac. That reduces the amount of time the tyre spends spinning free before it hooks up, which is where most of a bad run’s elapsed time disappears. It’s a fundamentally different brief to a track or fast-road coilover – there’s no requirement to manage mid-corner roll or trail-braking balance, only to get the K20A’s torque converted into forward motion as fast as the front tyres can take it.

Fitment for the Honda CIVIC TYPE-R FD2 (2007-2011)

Built for the FD2-generation Civic Type R, chassis code HN23-1, covering the 2007 to 2011 model years with the modified rear-integrated rear end. Confirm your build date falls within this range before ordering, as Honda made running changes across the FD2’s production life.

Spec your FD2’s drag coilover kit to match your build and pick your setup below.

The coilovers are specially designed for 0~400 drag racing such as FWD, RWD or 4WD models. The setting allows vehicle to change the front and rear weight according to the transmission wheel in instant driving, and force the transmission tire having greater compression, which can reduce the idle time of wheel and improve the stability of the vehicle under high speed.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

Front

  • Pillow ball + rubber top mountPillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.
  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.

Rear

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
