XYZ Racing Circuit Master Coilovers — Ford TELSTAR 1988-1992

The GD-platform Ford Telstar is a chassis that rewards a proper damper. With a softly-sprung saloon setup that was tuned for Australian and Pacific-market commuting rather than circuit work, the standard car runs out of body control long before it runs out of grip. The XYZ Racing Circuit Master coilover is the answer when a 1988-1992 Telstar is being campaigned in anger – club sprints, time-attack, tarmac rally – rather than being driven to the shops.

This is the top of the XYZ ladder, sitting above the Super Sport and Top Sport tiers. The Circuit Master is built for sustained lap-time work, where the damper has to hold its tune session after session and where the driver wants more adjustment range than a road-biased kit can give.

What this coilover does for your 1988-1992 Ford Telstar

On a Telstar, the first thing you notice is that the nose stops diving on the brakes and the rear stops squatting on corner exit. Mid-corner the car sits flatter, which means the front tyres stay loaded properly through the apex instead of rolling onto their shoulders. With three independent adjustment knobs – separate control over high-speed bump, low-speed bump, and rebound – you can soften the high-speed circuit to absorb kerbs without losing the low-speed body control that a Telstar’s long wheelbase needs. Ride height is fully adjustable at each corner, so corner-weighting a Telstar for left-right circuit balance becomes a workshop afternoon rather than a guessing game.

About the Circuit Master coilover

Circuit Master is XYZ Racing’s competition-tier damper, sitting alongside the Racing Spec, Drift Spec and Tarmac Rally programmes. The headline number is 9720 distinct adjustment combinations, drawn from the three-knob architecture – more than enough resolution to chase a balance change across a single test day. The damper has been validated on international circuits by XYZ race teams, with revisions driven by long-run testing rather than a single hot lap. One honest note from the engineering brief: because the bump circuit runs a small-bore oil passage, a Circuit Master damper on a heavily broken road surface can produce a faint hydraulic chatter as oil moves through the restriction. That is the price of the small-orifice damping that gives the kit its circuit precision, and it is not a fault. On a smooth track surface – which is what this damper exists for – it is silent.

Fitment for the Ford Telstar (1988-1992)

This kit is built for the FO19-chassis Ford Telstar across the full 1988-1992 production span. The damper specification, spring rates and mounting hardware are matched to the saloon’s strut geometry as supplied from XYZ Racing.
