XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow Coilovers — Subaru FORESTER SH 4WD 2007-2012

The Forester SH’s raised ride height and symmetrical AWD layout were Subaru’s answer to loose surfaces long before rally-cross ever needed the badge – a platform built to keep four wheels loaded when the ground stops being flat. Most coilover kits fight that brief, chasing a low, stiff, tarmac-only setup that has no business on gravel or packed snow. The XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow kit for the Subaru Forester SH 4WD (2007-2012) is built the other way round.

Fitted to chassis code SU03, this coilover kit extends suspension travel front and rear rather than shortening it, giving the Forester a bigger buffer before the shock runs out of stroke on a compression crest or a rutted forest track. It’s a rally-derived approach to damping, not a circuit-first one, and it shows in how the kit is specced.

What this coilover kit does for your 2007-2012 Subaru Forester SH 4WD

Longer front and rear travel means the wheels stay in contact with broken surfaces for longer before the damper tops or bottoms out, which is the difference between the Forester tracking straight over a rutted lane and skipping sideways. A larger internal reservoir of suspension oil and nitrogen gas gives the shock more thermal mass, so damping force stays consistent through a long gravel stage instead of fading as the oil heats up. Three external adjustment knobs let you retune compression and rebound between loose gravel, packed snow and tarmac transitions without pulling the kit apart, and full ride-height adjustment gives the extra clearance a Forester on rough ground actually needs.

About the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover

This is XYZ Racing’s rally and rally-cross damper, and the spec reflects that brief directly. Both ends run extended travel to soak up bigger compressions without the shock hitting its limit, keeping the car settled where a shorter-travel road kit would upset it. The oil and nitrogen gas volume is deliberately oversized so the shock resists the temperature build-up that comes from sustained hard use, protecting consistency rather than just peak performance on one hit. Three external knobs handle compression and rebound adjustment, metered through a small-bore passage – on big bumps this can produce a faint oil-passage noise, which is the valving doing its job rather than a fault to chase. XYZ also run the same internals on circuit tracks, so the damper is built to hold its settings under sustained heat cycling as well as one-off gravel impacts.

Fitment for the Subaru Forester SH 4WD (2007-2012)

Built for the second-generation Forester SH, chassis code SU03, across the full 2007-2012 production run in 4WD guise. Confirm your build date sits inside this window before ordering, as suspension mounting points changed between Forester generations.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. With longer travel for both front and rear, it increases bigger buffer distance to keep the car stable. The most advantages of this product is to extend the amount of suspension oil and nitrogen gas which can increase the stability of the shocks and prevent the shock oil temperature too high from being exhausted after long-term use.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

Front

  • Pillow ball + rubber top mountPillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.
  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.

Rear

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
