XYZ Racing Circuit Master Coilovers — Subaru FORESTER SH 4WD 2007-2012

The SH-generation Forester sits taller and carries its weight further from the road than most cars in this catalogue, and its symmetrical AWD driveline drives all four corners together rather than staggering the load through a corner. On track that shows up as quicker body roll through direction changes and a front end that pushes wide under trail braking, as the raised ride height and 4WD hardware add mass the standard dampers were never set up to control at circuit speeds. Circuit Master is XYZ Racing’s dedicated lap-time platform, built for owners taking the SH Forester onto a track rather than just firming up the daily commute.

Where a fast-road coilover compromises for ride comfort, Circuit Master is set up around sustained lap work – repeated heat cycles, repeated compression events, and the higher spring rates a taller AWD wagon needs to keep its roll centre in check. For a Subaru Forester SH 4WD headed for regular circuit days, that’s the difference between a car that settles into a corner and one that keeps moving underneath you.

What this coilover kit does for your 2007-2012 Subaru Forester SH 4WD

Fitted to the SH Forester, Circuit Master pulls the body down and stiffens the platform enough that the AWD system’s power delivery through a corner stops fighting the suspension’s roll rate. The 9720-way damping range means the front and rear can be balanced separately for a nose-heavy AWD layout – more low-speed compression up front to control dive under braking, more rebound control at the rear to keep the back axle planted as power comes on out of a corner. Ride height is adjustable independently of spring preload, so height and corner weights can be set correctly on the SH’s raised platform without changing the spring’s working range. The result on a Forester SH is a car that turns in with less lean, holds its line through mid-corner load changes, and puts power down through all four wheels without the body still catching up.

About the Circuit Master coilover

Circuit Master sits at the top of XYZ Racing’s range, developed and refined alongside XYZ’s own racing teams competing on circuits worldwide, and built specifically for repeated track use rather than road comfort. Adjustment is split across three external knobs, giving separate control over compression and rebound rather than a single combined dial, so the front and rear of the car can be tuned independently for a given track or driving style. Between the three knobs the kit offers 9720 possible damping combinations, which in practice means there’s a setting close to correct for most circuit conditions rather than a handful of coarse steps. The valving runs oil through a deliberately small internal passage to hold that resolution of adjustment, and on rough sections of a circuit – kerbs, bumps, compressions – that can produce a faint noise from the damper; that’s a normal side effect of the fine adjustment design, not a fault. It’s a damper built around circuit-specific loads: sustained cornering forces and repeated braking and acceleration cycles rather than the occasional pothole.
