XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Mitsubishi ECLIPSE CROSS 4WD 2018-2026

The Eclipse Cross 4WD sits taller than a hot hatch and carries more weight over its axles than anything XYZ Racing’s Tarmac Rally line was originally conceived for, and that combination changes how a stage car behaves under hard direction changes. Push the factory suspension through a fast tarmac chicane and the crossover’s higher centre of gravity lets body roll build before the AWD system can redistribute torque cleanly to the outside wheels.

This coilover kit is built for sealed-stage tarmac rally use: consistent, aggressive surface loading at speed rather than the pothole-and-camber compromise of road driving. Fitted to the Eclipse Cross 4WD, it gives the chassis a lower, more controlled platform to work from before the car ever turns into a stage.

What this coilover does for your 2018-2026 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross 4WD

Dropping the ride height and firming the damping curve cuts the body roll that a stock Eclipse Cross generates mid-corner, which matters directly to how the AWD system can put power down through a stage exit. The damper tuning is set to absorb hard hits from broken tarmac and camber changes without transmitting that shock straight into the chassis, so the car stays settled through repeated compressions rather than skipping across them. Better-controlled wheel travel keeps the tyre’s contact patch loaded more evenly across a corner, which on a 4WD platform translates into more usable traction out of hairpins and over crests. The net effect on the Eclipse Cross is a car that changes direction with less lag between steering input and chassis response, and holds its line through the kind of repeated hard compressions that stock crossover suspension isn’t built to absorb.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

XYZ Racing’s Tarmac Rally coilover is built specifically to deal with the punishment of closed-road stage surfaces rather than everyday potholes: broken edges, mid-corner camber shifts and the kind of big, sudden compressions that unsettle a car running road-biased damping. The internal valving is set to soak up that impact without letting it kick back through the body, which is what keeps the chassis composed instead of skittering off-line after a hard hit. That control over body movement is also what feeds tyre traction – a wheel that stays planted through a bump keeps its contact patch working, rather than momentarily unloading and losing grip. The damping settings themselves come out of XYZ Racing’s own tarmac rally programme, tuned from stage running rather than a bench spec sheet, aimed at giving the driver a predictable, stable platform to place the car on rather than one that reacts unpredictably lap after lap of stage mileage.
