XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Ferrari 812 (without hydraulic lift system) 2017-2026

The 812 Superfast carries 6.5 litres of naturally-aspirated V12 over its front axle and sends 789bhp to the rear wheels – a weight distribution and power delivery that punishes any suspension trying to be clever about it. On a sealed tarmac stage, the standard adaptive setup is calibrated for road compliance and ride-height clearance, not for the repeated kerb hits, mid-corner compressions and braking-zone loads that a competitive stage demands.

The XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally coilover is the spec for owners running an 812 (FE09 chassis, non-lift cars) in closed-road tarmac events where the surface is fast but never billiard-smooth. It replaces the factory adaptive struts with a damper built around bump absorption first and body control second.

What this coilover does for your 2017-2026 Ferrari 812

On a stage surface that mixes patched asphalt, drainage crests and the occasional kerb strike, the Tarmac Rally damping lets the front axle stay in contact with the road instead of skating across the top of it. That matters in a 1,630kg front-engined V12 – traction loss at the front under power-down out of a slow corner is the 812’s signature failure mode, and a damper that swallows the impact rather than rebounding off it keeps the contact patch loaded.

You will feel three changes immediately. Body movement is tied down enough to brake deep into a compression without the nose diving into bumpstop. The rear stays planted under throttle application where the standard car wants to step out on a ridge. And kerb-hopping stops being a moment of held breath – the damper takes the hit and the car carries on the line you chose.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

This is a damper engineered specifically for sealed-stage tarmac rally use, where the surface is too rough for a circuit setup but too fast for a gravel one. The valving is built to absorb impact from uneven pavement and large single bumps without transferring that energy into the body, which suppresses pitch and roll while keeping the tyre loaded through the disturbance.

The settings carry over from XYZ Racing’s own tarmac rally programme – the company’s competition experience in that discipline directly informs how this damper is valved, rather than being a re-labelled circuit kit. The result is a coilover that prioritises tyre traction and vehicle stability on surfaces a track-focused damper would skip across, while still giving the precise handling response a 789bhp front-engined car needs to be driveable at pace.

Fitment for the Ferrari 812 (2017-2026)

Built for the FE09 chassis 812 Superfast and 812 GTS, model years 2017 through 2026, specifically the variant without the factory hydraulic nose-lift system. If your car has the front-axle lifter fitted, this is not the correct part number – the geometry and strut top differ.
