XYZ Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — BMW 2 SERIES F87 M2 (excl. M2C) 2016-2021

The F87 M2 was built around the S55-derived powerplant and a chassis with the shortest wheelbase in M’s modern line-up, and that combination is exactly what makes it such a rewarding drift platform – and such an unforgiving one when the rear steps out faster than the front end can settle. The XYZ Racing Drift Spec coilover for the BMW 2 Series F87 M2 is engineered for that specific problem: keeping the chassis composed through the transition, then giving the driver a predictable rear axle to hold the angle.

This is not a fast-road kit pressed into drift duty. The Drift Spec is a competition-focused damper set built for sustained slip-angle work, where heat cycling, weight transfer under counter-steer, and clean throttle pickup off lock matter more than ride comfort on the way to the venue.

What this coilover does for your 2016-2021 Bmw 2 Series F87 M2 (excl. M2C)

Drop the F87 onto these coilovers and the first thing you notice is how much earlier the rear axle commits. The Drift Spec is tuned to stabilise the body during high-speed entry, which on a short-wheelbase M car means less of the snap-oversteer that makes the F87 punish ham-fisted inputs. Bump stroke has been set so you can run aggressive ride height without bottoming the dampers mid-transition – critical when you’re leaning on the rear hard enough to load the outer wheel into the bump stops on a stock setup. Spring rates and valving work together to give you a rear end that holds angle once it’s set, rather than oscillating, so the steering input becomes about correction rather than constant rescue.

About the Drift Spec coilover

XYZ Racing developed the Drift Spec specifically for competitive drift use rather than circuit work or fast-road compromise. The damper design is targeted at body stabilisation during high-speed cornering at extreme slip angles, helping the driver establish and hold a clean line through the turn. Once ride height is lowered with the bump stroke set up correctly, the kit’s character emerges as a controllable rear end that responds to throttle and steering rather than reacting unpredictably to weight transfer. The package is built around the demands of drift – sustained sideways load, repeated transitions, and the need for the chassis to stay flat under counter-lock – rather than the broader handling brief of a multi-purpose coilover. For an F87 owner running competition events or open practice days, that focused brief is the point.

Fitment for the Bmw 2 Series F87 M2 (Years 2016-2021)

This kit fits the F87 M2 chassis from 2016 to 2021, covering the standard M2 production run. It excludes the M2 Competition (M2C), which uses different suspension geometry and is supported by a separate part number in the XYZ Racing catalogue. Confirm your build year and that the car is the pre-Competition M2 before ordering.

This suspension is designed for Drift race especially. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowing the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.
