XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — BMW X4 F26 4WD 2014-2018

The X4 F26 carries more weight higher up than the 3-series platform it’s derived from, and xDrive sends that weight through all four corners rather than settling it at the rear axle the way a standard saloon would. On tarmac that’s a non-issue. On a gravel stage, with ruts, off-camber crests and compression hits arriving at speed, it’s the difference between a chassis that tracks straight and one that skips sideways. The Gravel Rally coilover from XYZ Racing is built around that exact problem rather than road-going comfort.

This isn’t a fast-road spring-and-damper set dropped into a rally application. It’s a stage-specific unit, and on the X4 F26 that means damping and spring rate chosen to keep the coupe-SUV’s higher centre of gravity in check when the surface stops being flat.

What this coilover does for your 2014-2018 Bmw X4 F26 4WD

Long-travel damper stroke matched to a long spring lets the X4’s suspension absorb chassis vibration and repeated compression from a bouncy, rutted road without the wheel losing contact with the ground – the single biggest factor in keeping an AWD gravel car pointed where you steer it. Where a standard coilover would top out or pack down over successive hits, the extended stroke keeps working through the whole rally-stage lap, not just the smooth sections. The spring rate is set to control body roll through the X4’s raised ride height under the extreme G-force loading of gravel cornering, so the chassis stays flatter and the xDrive system has a more consistent contact patch to distribute drive through. On a 2014-2018 X4 F26, that translates into a car that turns in predictably rather than washing wide when the surface breaks away underneath it.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

XYZ Racing developed this damper specifically for rally and rallycross competition, where road surfaces run from loose sandstone to snow-pack to fine silt within a single event – the most aggressive conditions any of their coilover ranges are asked to handle. The core of the design is an inverted-tube damper body, chosen so the unit can flex with the different demands each surface type places on it rather than being tuned for one condition only. Spring rates aren’t a desk exercise: XYZ’s own Rally Racing team runs and validates every rate on gravel and mixed-surface stages before it’s released, so the numbers reflect what actually holds up when a car is landing off crests and loading hard through rutted corners rather than what looks correct on a spec sheet.

Fitment for the Bmw X4 F26 4WD (2014-2018)

Built for the F26-chassis X4 in xDrive four-wheel-drive form across the 2014 to 2018 production run. Confirm your chassis code and drivetrain against your V5C before ordering, as coilover geometry is specific to the 4WD subframe and mounting points on this generation.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

Front

  • Pillow ball + rubber top mountPillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.
  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.

Rear

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
