XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow Coilovers — BMW X4 F26 4WD 2014-2018

The X4 F26 carries real weight for a coupe-SUV – over 1.8 tonnes before a driver climbs in – and on loose surfaces that mass wants to keep travelling in a straight line long after the front axle has changed its mind. Standard xDrive dampers are tuned for tarmac compliance, not for the compression spikes a rutted forest stage or a snow-packed farm track throws at a wheel every few metres.

The Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover is built around longer front and rear travel specifically to absorb that kind of hit without the shock bottoming out or the F26’s chassis pitching sideways. It is a rally and rallycross-focused damper first, adapted here to the X4’s 4WD platform and the loads that come with running a heavier, all-wheel-drive body over broken ground.

What this coilover does for your 2014-2018 Bmw X4

Extended stroke length at both ends gives the suspension a bigger buffer before it runs out of travel, so the X4 stays planted through compressions instead of skipping across them. The internal reservoir carries a larger volume of suspension oil and nitrogen gas than a standard road-biased unit, which matters on longer stages or repeated snow runs – more fluid and gas volume means the damper has more thermal mass to work with, keeping oil temperature under control instead of the shock fading as it heats up. Three external adjustment knobs let you retune compression and rebound between a gravel stage and a snow-covered one without swapping hardware, useful given how differently the F26 loads its front end under power on ice versus loose stone. Because the oil passages at each knob are deliberately small, you may hear a faint noise as fluid moves through them over big hits – that is the design working as intended, not a fault.

About the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow

This coilover is engineered primarily for rally and rallycross use, where sustained high-frequency impacts rather than smooth circuit loads are the main challenge. The longer travel front and rear is the headline spec: it gives the damper more room to absorb a hit before running out of stroke, which is the difference between a suspension that survives a stage and one that bottoms out on the third bump. XYZ Racing has increased both the suspension oil and nitrogen gas capacity inside the unit, extending its ability to resist heat soak during long or repeated runs – a genuine concern when a shock is working constantly rather than intermittently. The three-way adjustment knobs use a small oil-hole design that trades a bit of mechanical quietness for a wider, more precise adjustment range, and any resulting noise over rough sections is a known characteristic of the design rather than a defect. It is built for circuit and stage work where surface consistency cannot be assumed.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. With longer travel for both front and rear, it increases bigger buffer distance to keep the car stable. The most advantages of this product is to extend the amount of suspension oil and nitrogen gas which can increase the stability of the shocks and prevent the shock oil temperature too high from being exhausted after long-term use.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

Front

  • Pillow ball + rubber top mountPillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.
  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.

Rear

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
