XYZ Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — BMW 2 SERIES F87 M2 (excl. M2C) (Modified Rear Integrated) 2016-2021

The F87 M2’s compact wheelbase and heavily loaded rear subframe make it one of the most sought-after drift platforms BMW has built, and this Drift Spec coilover for the chassis (excl. M2C) is set up around that fact rather than around lap times. XYZ Racing built this kit specifically for cars committed to competitive drifting, where the priority is holding a locked angle through a corner rather than minimising body roll on the way in.

Rather than chasing outright grip, the kit’s damping and ride height are calibrated to keep the M2’s rear end predictable once it steps out, so the car settles into an angle and holds it instead of snapping unpredictably mid-transition. For a car that already sends its power through a short wheelbase, that predictability is the difference between a clean run and a spin.

What this coilover does for your 2016-2021 BMW 2 Series F87 M2 (excl. M2C)

Lowering the M2 on this kit tightens the car’s roll centre and brings the body closer to its natural pivot point, which matters on a chassis that already wants to rotate under trail braking. With ride height set correctly and bump stroke matched to the car’s weight, the rear axle loads more consistently through weight transfer, so initiation feels the same run after run instead of varying with how hard you clutch-kick into it. The stiffer, drift-specific spring and damper combination also controls the M2’s tendency to squat under power once the rear steps out, keeping the chassis flatter so you’re steering the slide with the wheel rather than fighting body movement. Ride height, compression and rebound are all set through the same components, so trackside adjustments stay within a range this specific chassis was built around.

About the Drift Spec coilover

XYZ Racing built the Drift Spec range around a single job: keep the car’s body settled while it’s sideways at speed, rather than resisting body roll the way a circuit-focused kit would. The construction is aimed at holding a clean, consistent angle through a corner rather than minimising lateral movement, which is why the valving behaves differently to the brand’s road and circuit kits under the same load. Getting the ride height low, with the bump stroke matched properly to the car’s corner weights, is what lets the kit do its job, and XYZ Racing sized that stroke so a correctly lowered M2 controls its body movement through a slide rather than bouncing through it. The result is a kit for drivers who need the rear of the car to behave the same way every time they load it up, run after run of competition, rather than one tuned purely for outright cornering speed.

Fitment for the BMW 2 Series F87 M2 (excl. M2C) (2016-2021)

This kit is built for the F87-generation BMW 2 Series M2, chassis code BM83, across the 2016 to 2021 model years, excluding the M2 Competition (M2C). The rear installation uses XYZ Racing’s Modified Rr Integrated configuration, matched to this chassis’s rear suspension mounting rather than a generic rear kit.

What buyers also search for

  • BMW 2 Series F87 M2 drift coilovers for competition and practice days
  • BM83 chassis suspension setup built around a controlled drift angle
  • F87 M2 (excl. M2C) coilover kit for lowered ride height and drift stability
  • BMW M2 drift-spec damping that holds up across repeat competition runs

Getting the ride height and rear integration right on a BM83 matters more than most fitments on this platform, so configure yours below to match your exact spec.

This suspension is designed for Drift race especially. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowing the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

Front

  • Pillow ball + rubber top mountPillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.
  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.

Rear

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
