XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — BMW 2 SERIES F87 M2 (excl. M2C) (Modified Rear Integrated) 2016-2021

The F87 M2’s short wheelbase and reinforced integral-link rear axle make it an unlikely gravel-stage car on paper, but the rear-wheel-drive balance and stiff structure underneath are exactly what a rally stage rewards once the factory struts come off. XYZ Racing’s Gravel Rally coilover for the BMW 2 Series F87 M2 (excl. M2C) replaces those struts with an inverted-tube design built for surfaces that change from one corner to the next – sandstone one minute, snow or silt the next.

Where a Top Sport or Circuit Master kit is tuned for a flat, fast line through a tarmac apex, this Gravel Rally kit is built to keep the S55-engined M2’s chassis composed when the road surface disappears underneath it. Long-stroke damper bodies and long springs soak up chassis vibration before it reaches the driver, and the rear mount is reworked specifically for the F87’s integral-link axle – the "Modified Rr Integrated" spec in this fitment.

What this coilover does for your 2016-2021 BMW 2 Series F87 M2

On a stage, the biggest threat to a heavy, turbocharged coupe like the M2 is a compression event the standard suspension was never asked to deal with – a compressed dip landed at speed, or a rutted crest that unloads the rear axle mid-corner. The long stroke here gives the axle somewhere to go before it tops or bottoms out, and the long spring keeps that movement progressive rather than abrupt. The inverted-tube construction resists the side loading that a fast, bumpy straight puts through the shock body, which matters on the F87 given how much torque the S55 is putting through a short wheelbase. Spring rates on this kit were set using data from an XYZ Racing rally programme rather than road-car defaults, so the car settles into repeated G-force through fast gravel corners instead of pattering over each ridge.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

This is the range built for rally and rallycross use rather than tarmac track days, on the basis that a rally stage is the most punishing surface XYZ Racing damps for. The inverted-tube layout was developed to keep working consistently across the surface changes a single stage can throw up – sand, snow, loose silt – where a conventional tube design is more likely to lose consistency as it heats and loads unevenly. Stroke length and spring length are both extended over the road-going ranges, giving the axle the travel to absorb chassis vibration and to survive a high-speed landing without the damper running out of shaft. The spring rate settings supplied with this kit come directly from testing by a rally racing team, so the baseline is calibrated for the loads a gravel car actually sees rather than estimated from a road spec sheet.

Fitment for the Bmw 2 Series F87 M2 (excl. M2C) (Modified Rr Integrated) (2016-2021)

This kit is specified for the F87-chassis (BM83) BMW 2 Series M2, excluding the M2 Competition, across the 2016-2021 production run. The rear mount is the Modified Rr Integrated configuration, built to fit the F87’s integral-link rear axle rather than a conventional strut layout – confirm this is the correct rear specification for your car before ordering.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

Front

  • Pillow ball + rubber top mountPillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.
  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.

Rear

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
