XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Porsche 991 GT2/ RS (without hydraulic lift system) 2017-2026

Taking a 991 GT2 RS to a gravel stage means confronting the implications of its rear-engine layout in ways that tarmac never exposes. With the flat-six hung behind the rear axle and no all-wheel drive to spread the load, loose-surface competition places the entire burden of managing the 991’s weight bias on the suspension – and particularly on the ability of the front axle to find grip once the hydraulic lift system’s influence on front geometry is removed.

This Gravel Rally coilover from XYZ Racing is built for exactly that configuration: the 991 GT2/RS from 2017, specified without the hydraulic lift system, prepared for gravel stages, rallycross, or loose-surface competition where the road surface changes with every kilometre.

What this coilover does for your 2017-2026 Porsche 991 GT2/ RS

The inverted tube construction is the first thing that matters on gravel. Lateral impacts – rocks, ruts, corrugations at speed – generate side-loading that conventional non-inverted units handle poorly, particularly in a car as stiff and low as the GT2 RS is in road trim. The inverted design resists that bending force through the larger-diameter outer tube acting as the structural member rather than the rod. Long-travel spring and stroke geometry let the front and rear work through undulations that would bottom a shorter-travel unit before the corner exit, keeping wheel contact consistent on loose surfaces where the 991’s rear weight bias becomes an asset once the chassis is settled. Spring rates across this kit are drawn from rally team testing data, not adapted from tarmac configurations.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

XYZ Racing developed the Gravel Rally line for rally and rallycross competition, where road conditions place greater demands on shock absorbers than any other motorsport discipline. The inverted tube design was chosen specifically to manage the aggressive lateral forces generated by sandstone, snow, and silt stages – three surfaces with entirely different compliance characteristics, each requiring the damper to respond quickly without deflecting under impact. Long-stroke travel and extended spring geometry absorb chassis vibration and high-speed compressions that would overwhelm a road-spec coilover, while the construction allows the GT2/RS to carry speed through high-G directional changes without the rear end stepping out unpredictably. Every spring rate setting in the kit has been tested by XYZ’s rally racing team, meaning the setup delivered with this coilover is not a theoretical starting point but a validated one for competitive loose-surface use.

Fitment for the Porsche 991 GT2/ RS (2017-2026)

This coilover is built to chassis code PO18, covering the 991 GT2/RS from 2017 through 2026 in the specification without the hydraulic lift system. Confirm your build excludes the hydraulic front-axle lift before ordering – the fitment is specific to that configuration and the suspension geometry it produces. Year and chassis code should both be verified against your vehicle documentation before purchase.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.
