XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Porsche 991 GT2/ RS (without hydraulic lift system) 2017-2026

The 991 GT2 RS sits at the far end of what road-car engineering can produce – 700bhp-plus, rear-engine, rear-wheel drive, and without the hydraulic front-lift system that belongs to the road-going specification. Absent that system, this is a car configured for use rather than compromise. For sealed-stage tarmac rally work, that distinction matters: stock suspension geometry on the GT2 RS was dialled for Nürburgring-grade smooth asphalt, and tarmac stages ask something harder – surface variation at pace, mid-stage roughness, and the task of keeping 1,470kg of rear-biased machinery planted when the road deteriorates.

XYZ Racing’s Tarmac Rally coilover was developed for exactly this environment. Where the GT2 RS’s rear-engine weight distribution provides natural rear-axle grip on clean surfaces, the variable across different tarmac stages is always the front – how load transfers under braking, how the front axle continues to communicate to the driver when the surface breaks up. These dampers work to maintain tyre contact through those irregularities, keeping readable information at the wheel rather than absorbing it in unpredictable body movement.

What this coilover does for your 2017-2026 Porsche 991 GT2/ RS

The core function here is traction management on imperfect surfaces. On broken tarmac at speed, the rear-engine balance that makes the GT2 RS so fast on smooth roads can become a liability if the rear axle drops contact through a compression or crest. These dampers are built to absorb large surface jolts progressively, suppressing body movement so that load transfer remains controlled rather than spiking unpredictably. The outcome is greater tyre contact across the stage, which on a car at this power level means the difference between exploitable traction and oversteer that arrives without warning. Stability through crests and compressions is the primary objective.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

The Tarmac Rally is XYZ Racing’s competition damper for sealed-stage work, and every setting in the kit comes from direct tarmac rally racing experience rather than road or circuit simulation alone. The construction is intended to handle the sudden, high-amplitude impacts that characterise stage roads shared with agricultural traffic between events – not the gradual, well-profiled compressions of a smooth circuit, but the abrupt jolts that arrive mid-corner on a road that hasn’t been resurfaced since the previous event. Damper response is tuned to absorb these inputs progressively, controlling body movement so the driver retains a predictable chassis rather than fighting instability generated by the suspension itself. The calibration is derived from competitive use on tarmac rally stages, where that specific form of road abuse is the design brief.

Fitment for the Porsche 991 GT2/ RS (2017-2026)

This kit is built specifically for chassis code PO18 – the 991 GT2 and GT2 RS variants without the factory hydraulic front-lift system, covering model years 2017 to 2026. Confirm your car does not carry the hydraulic lift option before ordering; the fitment is specific to the non-lift configuration.
