XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Porsche 991 CARRERA-2/S/TURBO (without hydraulic lift system) (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2011-2019

Putting a Porsche 991 on gravel is a serious undertaking. The rear-engine weight distribution that makes the 911 so exploitable on tarmac – with well over half the car’s mass behind the rear axle – becomes a very different equation when the surface breaks up at speed. The suspension has to work harder, travel further, and recover faster than anything PASM was ever designed to manage. These XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilovers replace the standard electronic damping architecture entirely with hardware calibrated for what gravel, sandstone, snow, and silt actually demand from a shock absorber.

PASM is a tarmac tool, and it conflicts directly with the passive damping behaviour of a rally coilover. Remove it – using the included cancellation kit – and fit suspension developed from the ground up for competition on broken surfaces, and the 991’s chassis has something it was never designed to carry: genuine off-tarmac composure.

What this coilover does for your 2011-2019 Porsche 991 CARRERA-2/S/TURBO

Long stroke and long spring construction are the core engineering choices here. On a rear-engine car, keeping the rear axle composed under rapid, repeated compression is critical – the weight that gives the 991 its exceptional exit grip becomes a liability if the damping can’t manage rebound on a fast gravel stage. The inverted tube design positions the larger-diameter tube at the wheel end, reducing unsprung mass while stiffening the assembly against the lateral loads that rough-surface corners generate. Extended suspension travel absorbs chassis vibration and the extreme cornering G-forces from high-speed gravel stages without the tyre losing contact with the ground beneath it.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

The Gravel Rally is XYZ Racing’s rally-and-rallycross-specific design – built for the surfaces that destroy conventional suspension fastest. Rallycross represents the most aggressive road-condition environment in motorsport, and the shock absorber is the component under the greatest stress throughout. The inverted tube (upside-down, USD) construction was chosen because it improves side-load resistance and reduces unsprung weight relative to a conventional strut – both essential properties when sandstone, silt, and snow stages replace tarmac beneath the car. Long stroke and long spring specification allows the suspension to absorb high-speed impact from crests and compression at elevation changes, and to handle the extreme G-forces of a hard gravel corner without structural compromise. All spring rate settings were tested by XYZ Racing rally teams in actual competition rather than extrapolated from a road-based setup, which means the baseline calibration is usable from the stage rather than requiring rebuild cycles to dial back.

Fitment for the Porsche 991 CARRERA-2/S/TURBO (2011-2019)

Chassis code PO31-C covers 991-generation Carrera 2, Carrera S, and Turbo variants produced between 2011 and 2019, specifically those without the factory hydraulic front-axle lift system (PALS). A cancellation kit for the standard PASM electronic damping is included – this removes the control loop that would otherwise conflict with the coilover’s passive damping architecture. Confirm your car does not have the hydraulic lift option before ordering.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

  • Pillow ball top mountPillow ballPSolid pillow-ball (spherical bearing) upper — chosen for rigidity and precise camber adjustment, the sharpest steering response of the options.
  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
