XYZ Racing Racing Spec Coilovers — Nissan SKYLINE R34 BNR34 4WD (Rear FORK) 1999-2002

The BNR34 GT-R left Omori Factory with more circuit intent than almost anything else wearing registration plates in 1999 – Brembo brakes, an ATTESA ET-S system calibrated for rear-biased torque distribution, and the twin-cam RB26DETT that Nissan quoted at 276bhp while the wider industry understood the actual figure was considerably higher. The standard suspension was capable for its era. It was not built for the time-attack scene that the BNR34 subsequently helped define.

The XYZ Racing Racing Spec coilover for the Nissan Skyline R34 BNR34 4WD closes the gap between road-registered and circuit-registered setup. With damper settings derived from direct participation in racing events including the WTCC, this is not a commuter kit pushed to its limits on a track weekend – it is a circuit-first coilover that can be softened for the drive from paddock to motorway.

What this coilover does for your 1999-2002 Nissan SKYLINE R34 BNR34 4WD (Rr FORK)

At approximately 1,560kg, the BNR34 carries more mass than many drivers account for in setup work, and the ATTESA ET-S’s rear-biased torque split means the rear axle is under sustained load through every hard acceleration phase. Well-chosen spring rates and competition-grade damping shorten the response window between steering input and chassis rotation in a way the standard setup cannot match. Ride height reduction lowers the GT-R’s centre of gravity without sacrificing the wheel travel that AWD geometry requires. For HICAS-deleted builds running a fixed rear-steer lock, suspension setup becomes the primary means of managing cornering balance – and the adjustment range available in the Racing Spec gives a driver genuine latitude to work with that variable directly.

About the Racing Spec coilover

Racing Spec development followed a competition-first path – damper settings established through XYZ’s direct participation in racing events including the WTCC, rather than road-biased calibration stiffened after the fact. The result is a suspension spec built around the load cycles and feedback demands of actual race conditions, where the gap between a correctly set damper and an incorrectly set one shows up immediately in lap data.

For BNR34s that have moved substantially beyond factory specification – modified turbos, built engines, significant aerodynamic load – XYZ offers custom shock absorber configurations within the Racing Spec line. Owners can provide full details of upgraded components and intended circuit programme, and the dampers will be constructed around that specific car’s requirements rather than a generalised track profile. This custom-build option is a stated part of the Racing Spec offering and it carries particular weight on the BNR34, where no two serious builds share the same power and downforce numbers.

Fitment for the Nissan SKYLINE R34 BNR34 4WD (Rr FORK) (1999-2002)

This set covers the Nissan Skyline R34 BNR34 in 4WD specification with rear fork lower mount, chassis code NI41, across the 1999 to 2002 production run. The rear fork designation refers to a clevis-style lower mount on the rear damper – BNR34 fitments can differ between eye and fork configurations, so confirm your car’s rear lower mount type before ordering.
