XYZ Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — Mazda RX7 FD3S 1991-2002

The FD3S sits on a chassis that rewards commitment and punishes hesitation – short wheelbase, near 50:50 weight distribution, and a rear end that will step out the moment you lift mid-corner. The XYZ Racing Drift Spec coilover for the Mazda RX7 FD3S exists for owners who have stopped pretending their car is a road car and want a damper platform built around angle, slip, and recovery.

Drift Spec is not a re-labelled fast-road kit. The valving, spring rates, and travel are biased toward keeping the rear loaded under provocation and giving the front end the bite to initiate cleanly off the throttle or off the handbrake, with predictable weight transfer when you reset between transitions.

What this coilover does for your 1991-2002 Mazda RX7 FD3S

The FD3S is light at the nose for a turbo car, and that lightness is what makes a Drift Spec damper meaningful here – the front needs to grip and tuck on initiation, or the car simply pushes wide and bleeds angle. Stiffer front spring rates and a faster compression curve give the FD that bite without making the steering nervous on transition. At the rear, the platform is set up to hold a smoother slide arc rather than snap into oversteer and overrun the rebound stroke.

Independent damping adjustment lets you tune front and rear separately as tyre wear, surface, and driver confidence change through a session. Pillowball top mounts on the front sharpen turn-in response and pull camber gain into a usable window for sustained angle, and the height adjustment lets you set the FD nose-down without compromising shock travel – critical on a chassis that runs out of bump stroke quickly when slammed.

About the Drift Spec coilover

The Drift Spec is XYZ Racing’s dedicated drift platform, built on the same monotube case hardware as the rest of the range but with internals re-specced for sustained sideways loading rather than grip-driven cornering. Spring rates are higher than a road-biased Super Sport setup and matched to a damping curve that keeps the contact patch planted through long, held slides rather than oscillating over kerb strikes and surface changes. Ride height is adjustable independently of spring preload, which matters on the FD because rear ride height directly affects how the car holds angle at speed. The 30-step damping adjustment is accessible without removing the units, and the kit ships with the bracket and pillowball hardware specific to the FD3S front strut design. Construction is full monotube with a separate spring perch and locking collars – serviceable, rebuildable, and re-valvable if your discipline pushes beyond the supplied curve.

Fitment for the Mazda RX7 (1991-2002)

This kit is built specifically for the FD3S chassis Mazda RX7, covering the full 1991-2002 production run including Series 6, 7, and 8 cars in UK, JDM, and US-market specification. Fits standard FD3S front strut and rear lower-arm mounting geometry without modification to the chassis.

This suspension is designed for Drift race especially. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowing the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.
