The FD3S RX-7 was already a chassis to be reckoned with in 1991, and three decades on the 13B-REW’s twin-sequential turbos still reward a car that puts its power down cleanly. The Circuit Master coilover is built for owners running their FD in anger – track days at Cadwell, Anglesey, a circuit-prepped car that still drives home – where the factory’s soft-side compromise simply runs out of damping authority.
This is the FD3S setup for drivers who want the chassis to live up to the engine. Spring rates step well above OE, ride height drops to a sensible competition window, and the damping is metered for repeat heat cycles rather than a single hot lap.
What this coilover does for your 1991-2002 Mazda RX7 FD3S
The FD’s near-50/50 weight distribution and double-wishbone front-and-rear layout reward suspension that can actually load the outside tyre – and the Circuit Master delivers that body control without turning the car wooden. 36-way damping adjustment lets you separate corner-entry rotation from corner-exit traction, which matters on a 1300kg car that pivots as readily as the FD does. Front-end bite under trail-braking improves immediately, the rear stops squatting under boost on exit, and turn-in becomes a deliberate input rather than a hopeful suggestion. Ride height is independently adjustable from spring preload, so corner-weighting is genuine rather than a side-effect of dropping the car. On Bridgestone RE-71RS or Yokohama A052, the FD finally puts its mid-corner balance where the chassis engineers always intended it.
About the Circuit Master coilover
Circuit Master sits at the track-focused end of the XYZ Racing range, built around a 52mm monotube damper with a separate piston rod and full inverted body on the front struts where the chassis allows. The damping circuit is single-adjustable across 36 clicks, with the curve weighted toward higher-speed compression to control kerb strikes and braking-zone pitch. Spring rates are matched to the FD’s relatively light kerb weight and short wheelbase – stiffer than fast-road, but not so aggressive that the car loses mechanical grip on a green track surface. Pillow-ball top mounts replace the factory rubber bushings at the front, sharpening steering feel and removing the slop the original mounts develop after 30 years. Camber adjustment at the top mount gives you the negative figures a sticky tyre needs without resorting to camber bolts in the lower arm.
Fitment for the Mazda RX7 1991-2002
Fits the FD3S chassis – the third-generation, twin-turbo 13B-REW car in all UK and JDM trims from 1991 through to the final 2002 Spirit R production. The coilover replaces the factory shock, spring and upper mount as a complete corner assembly. No modification to the subframe or strut tower is required for road or trackday use.

The Circuit Master is one of seven XYZ Racing specs available for the FD3S – configure damping, spring rate and ride height to your build below.
Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.
Top mounts included with your kit
Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.
AluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
