XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Honda CIVIC EG SINGLE CAM (Rear EYE) 1992-1995

The EG-chassis Civic was already a featherweight when it left Suzuka, and on a loose surface that low mass becomes the platform’s biggest asset and its biggest liability in the same corner. Throw a 1992-1995 Civic at a gravel stage on standard dampers and it skips, tramlines and runs out of shock travel before the apex – the rear EYE-mount geometry needs a damper built around long stroke, not short.

The XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilover is the specific answer for the HN14 platform on sandstone, snow and silt. It is not a road kit pressed into rally duty; the inverted-tube body, long-stroke construction and the rally-tested spring rates are the same package XYZ Racing competition teams run on loose-surface events.

What this coilover does for your 1992-1995 Honda Civic

On a gravel stage the EG Civic lives or dies on how the damper handles repeat high-frequency hits while still controlling the chassis through a fourth-gear sweeper. The long-stroke build gives the rear EYE-mount end the travel it needs over crests and compressions without packing down, so the inside-rear stays planted rather than skipping into oversteer. The inverted tube layout puts the larger working diameter at the bottom of the strut, which resists the side-loading that grenades a conventional twin-tube on a rutted stage. Spring rates are set for absorbing chassis vibration on bouncy surfaces and carrying G-force through committed turn-in, so the Civic stops washing wide on entry and starts pivoting on the throttle the way the chassis wants to. Brake stability improves with it – the front end stays loaded under trail-braking into a hairpin instead of unloading mid-corner.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

XYZ Racing developed this damper specifically for rally and rallycross competition, where road conditions are the most aggressive in motorsport. The inverted-tube construction is the central piece of the design – it relocates the wear and side-load to a beefier section of the strut body, which is what keeps the damper alive over a full event on rutted gravel. Long stroke and long spring are paired to absorb chassis vibration on broken surfaces, take aggressive impacts from high-speed bouncy roads, and carry the lateral G-load when the car is committed through a turn. The spring rate menu has been signed off by rally teams running the platform in competition, which means the baseline setting is a starting point, not a guess. Loose-surface specialists, snow stages and silt have all fed back into the construction, so the kit arrives set up for variable grip rather than tuned for a single surface.

Fitment for the Honda CIVIC EG Single CAM (Rr EYE) (1992-1995)

This kit is built specifically for the HN14 chassis Civic with the single-cam engine and rear EYE-mount suspension geometry, covering model years 1992 to 1995. The rear EYE configuration is the critical fitment detail – it is not interchangeable with later fork-mount EG variants, so confirm your rear lower mount before ordering.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.
