XYZ Racing Racing Spec Coilovers — Honda ACCORD CB1/2/3/4 1989-1993

The CB-chassis Accord is a car most owners now run with circuit intent rather than commute miles, and the front-strut, double-wishbone-rear layout responds well to a damper that has been shimmed for genuine race loading rather than fast-road compliance. The XYZ Racing Racing Spec coilover for the Honda Accord CB1/2/3/4 is the kit you fit when the car has stopped being a road car – when the seats are buckets, the boot is a battery box, and the next set of tyres is going on at a paddock, not a petrol station.

This is the sharpest end of the XYZ Racing range for the 1989-1993 Accord. It is built for serious track and time-attack use, with shim stacks and valving derived from XYZ’s own race programme, and it is intended for owners who already know what spring rate they want and why.

What this coilover does for your 1989-1993 Honda Accord

The CB Accord’s chassis was tuned soft from the factory to flatter a saloon-car audience, which on a stripped track car translates into nose-dive under braking and a lazy front-end response on turn-in. The Racing Spec damping work directly attacks that – supporting the front under heavy braking, holding the contact patch steady mid-corner, and letting the rear rotate rather than scrub. Ride height comes down to a circuit-appropriate stance without bottoming the bump-stops on UK kerb-strikes. With the right spring rate selected for your weight and tyre, the Accord will feel like a different car under load: flatter through a long right-hander, more honest under trail-braking, more willing to accept a mid-corner steering correction.

About the Racing Spec coilover

Racing Spec is XYZ Racing’s circuit-focused damper, developed directly out of the company’s own race participation including WTCC programmes. The shim stacks, piston design and valving have been refined against real lap data rather than a marketing brief, which is why the kit lands much closer to a bespoke race damper than a typical off-the-shelf coilover. For cars running aggressive upgrades – heavily reworked engines, A-class race builds, factory-style competition setups – XYZ Racing will also produce custom-valved shock absorbers if the standard Racing Spec map is not the right fit. You supply the build sheet and the circuit you intend to run; they cut a shim stack to suit. Standard kits ship with the Racing Spec valving as-tested in competition.
