XYZ Racing Street Advanced Coilovers — Honda ACCORD CB1/2/3/4 1989-1993

The fourth-generation Accord rides on double wishbones at all four corners – a layout Honda lifted straight out of its motorsport thinking and one that responds beautifully to proper damping once the factory struts give up. After three decades, most CB-chassis Accords are riding on tired OE units that have long since lost their bump control, leaving the car wallowing on turn-in and pattering over mid-corner bumps it should absorb cleanly.

The XYZ Racing Street Advanced coilover for the Honda Accord CB1/2/3/4 is the kit to fit when you want that wishbone geometry working the way Honda intended, with the added ride-height and damping control the original setup never offered. It is built for owners running these cars hard on UK B-roads and the occasional track day, not parked at a show.

What this coilover does for your 1989-1993 Honda Accord

Drop the front by 25-40mm and the CB Accord’s nose stops looking apologetic and starts pointing where you ask it to. The 720-position damping range means you can run a softer setting for the commute, then wind in compression and rebound for a weekend at Cadwell without touching a spring. The double-wishbone front end loves the extra rebound control on corner exit – the inside front no longer lifts and skips the way it does on shot OE dampers. Brake-dive drops sharply, which matters on a car that runs drum rears and needs every bit of front-axle composure under heavy stops. Body roll comes back into proportion, so the Bridgestones (or whatever you’ve fitted) finally sit on their tread blocks instead of the sidewall.

About the Street Advanced coilover

Street Advanced is the kit XYZ Racing’s development team has iterated on the longest, refined through years of testing in international race series before being detuned for fast-road use. The 720-way damping adjuster combines compression and rebound on a single 30-click knob per damper, which is intentionally simpler than the 32+32 split on the track-focused Super Sport – you get genuine adjustability without spending an evening with a notepad finding a baseline. Construction is monotube with a separate spring perch for ride-height adjustment independent of preload, so you can drop the car without packing the spring or running out of bump travel. Springs are matched to the Accord’s kerb weight and front-biased mass distribution rather than a generic chart. It is the right answer for a driver who wants real adjustability for normal road use and occasional circuit work, without paying for inverted monotubes or remote canisters they will never touch.

Fitment for the Honda Accord (1989-1993)

This kit is built specifically for the CB1/CB2/CB3/CB4 chassis Accord, covering the full fourth-generation run from 1989 through 1993 in saloon, coupe and Aerodeck body styles. Chassis code HN02 in the XYZ catalogue. Confirm your chassis plate before ordering – early CA-chassis fifth-gen cars from 1989 use a different strut and are not covered here.
