XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow Coilovers — Toyota WISH (TYPE 2) 2009-2017

Running a WISH Type 2 in gravel or snow events means making peace with the platform: a front-wheel-drive MPV chassis with a torsion beam rear axle, designed for practicality rather than stage starts. FWD on loose surfaces places steering and traction demands on the front axle simultaneously, while the semi-independent rear limits independent wheel travel – both factors that make suspension calibration significantly more consequential than on a conventional rally platform.

The XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover for the Toyota WISH (Type 2) 2009-2017 is built around the specific demands of rally and rallycross competition. Extended front and rear travel, greater fluid volume, and a nitrogen gas charge address the failure modes that end a day on rough stages, rather than treating loose-surface driving as an edge case to be tolerated.

What this coilover does for your 2009-2017 Toyota WISH (TYPE 2)

FWD on gravel asks the front suspension to absorb surface impacts at the same moment it is managing cornering load and driving traction. Additional travel gives the front MacPherson struts room to work across a wider range of simultaneous inputs without bottoming, keeping the driven wheels in contact with the surface through the critical moments of corner entry and acceleration. The extended oil and nitrogen gas volume directly addresses thermal fade – sustained stage work on loose surfaces cycles a damper through heating and cooling far more aggressively than circuit running, and a coilover that loses damping consistency midway through a stage is a liability. With the WISH’s mass concentrated toward the front by its FWD architecture, maintaining consistent damping through temperature rise keeps the chassis response predictable across gravel and snow alike. Three adjustment knobs allow the setup to be tuned for different surface types, since loose gravel packs very differently from compacted snow, and the car’s natural understeer tendency can be moderated by adjusting front damping response independently of the rear.

About the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover

Developed for rally racing and rallycross rather than tarmac or road use, the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow is a coilover designed to sustain damping performance across rough terrain and extended competitive stages. The front and rear units provide additional suspension travel beyond what road-oriented coilovers offer, creating a greater buffer before the suspension reaches its limits – directly relevant when the surface includes ruts, crests, and unpredictable compressions rather than the consistent gradient of a circuit.

Construction uses an expanded oil and nitrogen gas volume within the damper body to manage the thermal demands of competition. Repeated high-amplitude impacts on loose surfaces generate significantly more heat inside a shock than sustained circuit running, and the additional fluid mass slows the rate of temperature rise, extending consistent damping behaviour further into a stage. Adjustment is controlled by three independent knobs using small-bore oil passages, a design that delivers precise response control across the adjustment range. Those same passages produce some audible noise when the suspension is cycled through large compressions – an inherent characteristic of the construction, and expected operating behaviour rather than a fault.

Fitment for the Toyota WISH (TYPE 2) (2009-2017)

This kit is developed for the Toyota WISH Type 2 on chassis code TO61-1, covering the full second-generation production run from 2009 to 2017. The WISH ran across multiple trim and engine variants through this period – cross-reference your specific build against SKU XYZ-COIL-TO61-1-PRG before ordering to confirm applicability.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. With longer travel for both front and rear, it increases bigger buffer distance to keep the car stable. The most advantages of this product is to extend the amount of suspension oil and nitrogen gas which can increase the stability of the shocks and prevent the shock oil temperature too high from being exhausted after long-term use.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

Front

  • Pillow ball + rubber top mountPillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.
  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.

Rear

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
