XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Toyota WISH (TYPE 2) 2009-2017

The second-generation Toyota WISH carries its weight high. It is a tall MPV body sitting on the Corolla-derived MC platform, sprung soft from the factory for school runs and motorway comfort, which is exactly the wrong starting point when the surface turns to gravel, silt or snow. The XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilover is built for that surface, not for a smooth circuit.

This is the loose-surface specialist in the XYZ Racing range. Where a tarmac coilover chases body control on grip, the Gravel Rally damper is engineered to keep a wheel planted while the chassis is being thrown around underneath it. On a heavy, front-biased people-mover like the WISH, that long-travel approach matters more than outright stiffness.

What this coilover does for your 2009-2017 Toyota WISH

The long-stroke, long-spring layout gives the WISH the suspension travel it never had as standard, so the wheels can follow a rutted gravel stage instead of skipping across the top of it. The inverted strut design stiffens the moving assembly and resists the side loads a tall body generates when you turn in hard, which means more predictable steering response under cornering G. Damping is tuned to soak up repeated high-speed impacts from a bouncy road surface without the harsh secondary jolt that kills control over corrugations. For an owner running a WISH on forest tracks, snow or unsealed roads, the gain is traction and composure where the factory setup simply runs out of travel and floats.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

XYZ Racing developed this damper specifically for rally and rallycross use, where the road surface is the most punishing of any motorsport discipline and the shock absorber is the single most worked component on the car. The inverted tube construction is designed to cope with varied loose surfaces, from sandstone to silt to snow, each of which loads the suspension differently. The deliberately long stroke and long spring let the unit absorb chassis vibration and the constant aggressive hits from a fast, rough stage, while still holding up under the heavy lateral G generated mid-corner. The spring rates are not theoretical numbers either – each rate setting has been validated by XYZ Racing’s own rally team on stage.

Fitment for the Toyota WISH (TYPE 2) (2009-2017)

This set is matched to the second-generation Toyota WISH (TYPE 2), chassis code TO61-1, covering the 2009 to 2017 model years. Confirm your chassis code and year against the listing before ordering to be sure of the exact spec.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

  • Pillow ball + rubber top mountPillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.
  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.
  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
