XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow Coilovers — Subaru IMPREZA STI 4WD 1992-2000

The GC8-generation Impreza STI made its name on loose surfaces long before it made one on tarmac, and that rally pedigree is exactly what a standard road-biased damper struggles to honour. Symmetrical AWD and a flat-four low centre of gravity give this chassis the platform to carry huge speed over gravel and snow, but the wheel travel and thermal load that demands are well beyond what a stock strut was ever built to absorb.

The XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover for the Subaru Impreza STI 4WD addresses that gap directly. It’s built around longer front and rear travel, a bigger fluid and gas reserve, and multi-point adjustment aimed squarely at rally and rallycross use rather than smooth-circuit lapping – the coilover this chassis was always missing.

What this coilover does for your 1992-2000 Subaru Impreza STI 4WD

Extended stroke length front and rear gives the STI a larger working window before the suspension bottoms out over ruts, compressions and washed-out gravel edges, keeping the car settled where a shorter-travel setup would kick the axle off line. The enlarged suspension oil and nitrogen gas volume matters just as much: on a long stage or a repeated rallycross session, damper oil heats up fast, and a bigger reservoir keeps that heat from spiking oil temperature and fading the damping partway through a run. Three separate adjustment knobs let you set compression and rebound independently front to rear, so you can soften the front for washboard sections and firm the rear for traction off a hairpin without touching the whole car’s balance. On snow and loose gravel specifically, that separation of front and rear control is what lets the Impreza’s AWD system put power down consistently instead of scrabbling.

About the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover

XYZ Racing built the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow line specifically around rally and rallycross use rather than adapting a circuit coilover downward. The longer front and rear travel creates a larger buffer zone before the suspension tops or bottoms out, which is what keeps the car stable when the surface underneath it is anything but flat. Behind that sits an increased volume of suspension oil and nitrogen gas, engineered to stop oil temperature climbing too far after sustained hard use – a real risk on loose-surface stages where the damper is working constantly rather than in short bursts. The three external adjustment knobs use a small-passage oil design for fine control at each setting; on rough, high-frequency inputs like gravel washboard, that narrow oil path can produce a faint noise as fluid passes through – this is expected behaviour, not a fault. The line is built to shrug off rough, broken terrain without the driver having to back off for it.

Fitment for the Subaru Impreza STI 4WD (1992-2000)

This coilover is built for the Subaru Impreza STI 4WD, chassis code SU04-1, covering the 1992 to 2000 model years. It’s specific to the AWD STI drivetrain and platform across that production span – confirm your build year falls within this window before ordering.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. With longer travel for both front and rear, it increases bigger buffer distance to keep the car stable. The most advantages of this product is to extend the amount of suspension oil and nitrogen gas which can increase the stability of the shocks and prevent the shock oil temperature too high from being exhausted after long-term use.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.
