XYZ Racing Pro Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — Subaru IMPREZA STI 4WD 1992-2000

The GC8-generation Impreza STI’s symmetrical all-wheel-drive layout isn’t the platform most drift builds start with, but that boxer-engined, power-to-all-four setup is exactly why the Pro Racing Drift Spec coilover exists for it. Holding a controlled slide when torque is split front and rear rather than sent purely to the back axle means the chassis needs body control that reacts faster than the diff can upset it.

This kit is built for competitive drifting on the Impreza STI 4WD, from the 1992 GC8 through to the 2000 model. It replaces the factory struts and springs with a fully adjustable coilover set tuned to keep the body flat and predictable as the car moves from grip to slide, rather than the road-biased compliance the standard suspension was designed around.

What this coilover does for your 1992-2000 Subaru Impreza STI 4WD

Dropping the ride height and firming up the platform changes how the Impreza STI 4WD transfers weight the moment you lift off or apply opposite lock. With the correct bump stroke set, the rear steps out on command instead of hunting for grip, and the reduced body roll keeps the AWD system’s power delivery consistent through the transition instead of fighting unpredictable movement. The 3-way adjustment lets you separate compression and rebound response front and rear, so you can soften the initial turn-in bite while keeping the rear planted enough to catch and hold an angle. On a car that was never built with drift geometry in mind, that separation is what turns wheel and pedal inputs into a slide you can actually place on a line, run after run.

About the Pro Racing Drift Spec coilover

XYZ Racing built the Pro Racing Drift Spec line specifically around drift competition rather than road use. The valving is calibrated to stabilise the car’s body through high-speed direction changes, which is what lets a driver hold a clean, consistent angle rather than fighting a chassis that pitches and rolls mid-slide. Each corner uses a 3-knob adjuster with a small-bore oil passage, so compression and rebound can be tuned independently once the ride height is set with the correct bump stroke. Because that passage is deliberately narrow, you may hear a faint noise from the dampers over sharp bumps at speed; that’s a normal characteristic of this valving, not a fault, and it’s a non-issue on the circuit and drift-track surfaces this spec was developed for. On the Impreza STI 4WD’s boxer-engined, AWD platform, that combination gives the car the low, stable base competitive drift setups need before power delivery and diff tuning even come into play.

Fitment for the Subaru Impreza STI 4WD (1992-2000)

This kit is matched specifically to the Subaru Impreza STI 4WD, chassis code SU04-1, covering the 1992 to 2000 model years. It’s built around the GC8-generation AWD platform rather than a generic Impreza fitment, so confirm your car falls within this production span before ordering. If your STI sits outside the 1992-2000 range, check the wider Impreza coilover range for the correct kit.

The Pro Racing Drift Spec kit for the Impreza STI 4WD runs a fixed valving and spring rate set up for this exact chassis, not a generic AWD fit-all spec. Configure yours below and build the setup for the car you’re actually going to slide.

This suspension is especially designed for Drift racing purpose. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowering the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.
