XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Subaru BRZ 2012-2021

The first-generation Subaru BRZ was built as a low-slung, rear-driven momentum car for smooth tarmac, so taking one onto a loose gravel stage rewrites the brief entirely. The XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilover answers that with the one thing a stripped, lightweight chassis like the SU00 needs most on dirt: stroke. Long-travel dampers and long springs let the car ride a rutted, bouncy surface instead of skating across the top of it.

This is the gravel-and-rallycross end of the XYZ Racing range, not a lowered fast-road kit. It is built to soak up the worst footing a stage can throw at a rear-wheel-drive BRZ – sandstone, snow, silt – while keeping the inside rear loaded through a slide.

What this coilover does for your 2012-2021 Subaru BRZ

On a 2012-2021 BRZ the immediate gain is compliance. The long-stroke design keeps all four tyres tracking a broken surface where a short-travel road coilover would deflect and shed grip, so the car puts its modest power down out of slow gravel hairpins. The long springs absorb chassis vibration and big single hits – landings, compressions, mid-corner ruts – without crashing into the bump stops. Because the FA20 boxer trades on momentum rather than torque, that consistency of contact is what actually carries speed through a stage. The inverted damper bodies also resist the side-loading a rear-driven car generates when you lean on it mid-corner.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

The Gravel Rally coilover was developed specifically for rally and rallycross, the most punishing surfaces XYZ Racing builds for. Its defining feature is an inverted-tube layout, where the larger-diameter body sits up top and the thinner shaft works below – a design chosen to hold damping control across wildly variable footing, from hard-packed sandstone on one stage to snow or loose silt on the next. Long stroke and long springs are central to the concept: they give the damper room to absorb chassis vibration, attack high-speed bouncy roads, and carry the extreme cornering G-force a rally car loads into its suspension. Every spring rate in the kit was settled by an XYZ Racing rally team under competition conditions, so the baseline reflects what works on a stage rather than a showroom guess.

Fitment for the Subaru BRZ (2012-2021)

This kit is cut for the first-generation Subaru BRZ, chassis code SU00, across the full 2012-2021 production run. It suits the rear-wheel-drive coupe as supplied. Confirm your build year against the range above before configuring, and note that gravel-stage geometry assumes a competition-prepared car rather than a stock road setup.

What buyers also search for

  • Subaru BRZ gravel rally coilover for loose-surface stage and rallycross use
  • Long-travel BRZ suspension that keeps grip over ruts, jumps and compressions
  • Rear-wheel-drive BRZ coilover spring rates set by a competition rally team
  • Inverted-damper coilover for the 2012-2021 BRZ across mixed gravel, snow and silt
  • Subaru BRZ SU00 rally suspension built around travel rather than ride height

If your BRZ is bound for the dirt rather than the boulevard, the Gravel Rally kit is the right place to start – pick your spec below.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

  • Pillow ball + rubber top mountPillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.
  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.
  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
