XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Porsche 991 CARRERA-2/S/TURBO (without hydraulic lift system) 2011-2019

The 991’s 38/62 front-to-rear weight split is the defining characteristic of the car’s handling on tarmac – and it becomes your primary engineering challenge the moment you point it at a gravel stage. Where a mid-engined competitor can lean on natural balance, the rear-engined 911 demands suspension geometry that manages momentum shifts at the rear axle when the surface breaks loose. These XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilovers are built specifically for that environment.

Covering the 991 Carrera-2, Carrera-S, and Turbo variants without the factory hydraulic lift system, this kit spans the full 2011-2019 generation – both 991.1 and 991.2 body shells, the latter of which moved to turbocharged flat-sixes across the range. The setup priorities are consistent regardless of which engine sits behind the rear axle: travel, compliance, and the structural rigidity to take a serious hit without folding.

What this coilover does for your 2011-2019 Porsche 991 CARRERA-2/S/TURBO

Long stroke travel absorbs the repeated impacts that gravel and silt stages impose on the 991’s suspension pickups – loads that standard road geometry was never designed to handle. Inverted tube construction adds compressive strength at the damper body, important when a rear-engined car lands off a crest with significant rearward bias and the rear axle takes the brunt. Extended spring length helps maintain wheel contact through undulating surfaces where the stock 991 geometry runs out of travel quickly. Spring rates were validated across sandstone, snow, and silt conditions by XYZ Racing’s rally team, so the calibration reflects genuine competitive use rather than theoretical modelling.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

The Gravel Rally is an inverted-tube damper designed for rally cross and gravel-stage competition – the most aggressive road conditions XYZ Racing’s range is asked to survive. Inverting the tube layout places the larger-diameter section at the top, increasing rigidity and protecting the damper rod from the lateral and compressive forces that come with high-speed rough-surface driving. Long stroke and extended spring length are specified to absorb chassis vibration at speed and the extreme G-forces generated through fast gravel corners. All spring rate settings have been tested by XYZ Racing’s rally team across three very different surface profiles – sandstone, snow, and silt – because conditions change from stage to stage and the damper must perform consistently across all three.

Fitment for the Porsche 991 CARRERA-2/S/TURBO (2011-2019)

This kit is specified for Porsche 991 Carrera-2, Carrera-S, and Turbo variants (chassis code PO31) built between 2011 and 2019, covering the full run of both 991.1 and 991.2 generations. It is compatible only with cars not fitted with the factory hydraulic lift system – the lift option alters front subframe geometry, so confirm your build specification before ordering.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

  • Pillow ball top mountPillow ballPSolid pillow-ball (spherical bearing) upper — chosen for rigidity and precise camber adjustment, the sharpest steering response of the options.
  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
