XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Nissan SKYLINE R34 BNR34 4WD (Rear EYE) 1999-2002

The BNR34 GT-R’s ATTESA E-TS Pro system is the reason Nissan’s engineers chose four-wheel drive for the Skyline GT-R programme – on loose surfaces it delivers traction that a rear-drive chassis simply cannot match. What ATTESA cannot do is compensate for dampers calibrated for smooth tarmac. On a gravel stage the R34’s 1,560kg of GT-R structure cycles through full suspension travel with every rock and rut, and standard road dampers fail under that sustained punishment.

These XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilovers for the 1999-2002 Nissan Skyline R34 BNR34 4WD exist for exactly that scenario. The inverted tube construction and extended stroke geometry address the specific demands of loose-surface competition – repeated hard compression, lateral loads through the AWD drivetrain, and the need for consistent response whether the stage surface is compacted sandstone, packed snow, or fine silt.

What this coilover does for your 1999-2002 Nissan SKYLINE R34 BNR34 4WD (Rr EYE)

The inverted tube design places the larger-diameter section at the upper mount, which adds structural rigidity where the BNR34 transfers load hardest on compression – critical given the front-biased mass of the RB26DETT sitting ahead of the front axle centreline. Extended spring travel lets the chassis absorb repeated high-speed impacts without bottoming, keeping all four corners in contact long enough for the ATTESA torque split to remain meaningful. On loose stages where the rear loads up under acceleration exit, consistent damping response lets the driver use the AWD predictably rather than correcting for unexpected chassis reactions. The spring rates across this kit have been validated under rally racing conditions rather than derived from road car data, so the calibration accounts for the g-forces generated when a heavy 4WD car clears a crest at speed and lands hard on the downslope.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

Designed primarily for rally and rallycross competition, the Gravel Rally is XYZ Racing’s dedicated loose-surface coilover line – not a modified road damper but a unit conceived from the outset for the most aggressive surface conditions in motorsport. Rallycross imposes the harshest demands of any circuit format on shock absorbers, and the inverted tube construction is a direct response to that requirement. The extended spring and stroke lengths are sized to absorb the chassis vibration generated by high-speed rough roads, handling the sustained bouncing that compresses a standard damper beyond its working range almost immediately. All spring rate settings have been tested by a rally racing team to cover sandstone, snow, and silt – three surfaces with fundamentally different compression and rebound profiles that required separate calibration work rather than a single compromise.

Fitment for the Nissan SKYLINE R34 BNR34 4WD (Rr EYE) (1999-2002)

This kit is specified for the BNR34-chassis Skyline GT-R in four-wheel-drive configuration with rear eyelet mount (chassis code NI40), covering the full 1999 to 2002 production run. The rear eyelet fitment is identified in the product reference – confirm your existing rear suspension mount type before ordering, as BNR34 rear configurations can vary by market specification.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.
