XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Nissan MAXIMA A33 1999-2003

The A33 Maxima’s transverse VQ30DE sits well forward of the front axle, and that weight bias writes a very particular set of problems into sealed-stage competition. The factory dampers were calibrated around motorway comfort – they were never asked to control a chassis through a crested B-road surface at speed with a navigator calling the next junction. The XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally coilovers for the Nissan Maxima A33 1999-2003 replace that calibration with a setup built directly from tarmac rally programme experience.

On sealed stages, surface irregularities arrive faster and less predictably than standard suspension is equipped to handle. A compression through a cambered corner loads the front axle unevenly; a crest mid-braking zone shifts mass forward faster than the driver can adjust. The Tarmac Rally specification for the A33 addresses the car’s actual on-stage behaviour – not an off-the-shelf FWD template adapted after the fact.

What this coilover does for your 1999-2003 Nissan MAXIMA A33

The A33’s pronounced nose-weight means any damper that permits excessive body pitch will bleed front grip precisely where you need it most. This kit controls compression and rebound rates to keep the nose tracking the road rather than diving into it, which produces more consistent steering response through stage compressions. Tyre contact through ruts and crests improves because the damper responds quickly enough to maintain contact-patch load – the brief grip losses that OEM units suffer on broken tarmac are shortened. On braking into tighter stage hairpins, the A33’s front-biased weight distribution typically makes the nose pitch hard; the Tarmac Rally calibration contains that forward weight transfer and allows more repeatable stopping points.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

XYZ Racing’s Tarmac Rally specification is developed from sealed-surface competition, with damping settings shaped by what XYZ’s own racing teams found effective on actual stages. The design priority is absorbing sudden, large-amplitude inputs – a broken road edge, a lip between tarmac repairs, a compression arriving mid-corner – without transmitting the shock straight through to the chassis and unsettling the car’s line. That race-programme knowledge feeds directly into the damper settings here, giving the A33 damping behaviour that is reactive to surface changes without becoming nervous. Height is adjustable to suit specific venue requirements, and damping adjustment lets you adapt between stages as surface conditions change.

Fitment for the Nissan MAXIMA A33 (1999-2003)

This coilover set is built to the A33 chassis specification and covers the Nissan Maxima across the 1999 to 2003 production run. The A33 ran as a front-wheel-drive executive saloon throughout that span. Confirm your exact build year against the VIN plate before ordering, particularly for early 1999 or late 2003 production examples.
