XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Nissan MAXIMA A33 1999-2003

The A33 Maxima’s front-wheel-drive layout puts both propulsive and steering loads through the same axle – a workload that normal road geometry tolerates but that gravel stages expose without mercy. On loose surface, every sudden crest and embedded rut transfers into the front corners hard, and a saloon as long and front-heavy as the A33 responds by washing out at the nose before it has the grip to properly apply its V6’s torque. Standard travel simply is not enough when the surface starts breaking up at speed.

The XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilover set for the Nissan Maxima A33 1999-2003 is built around that reality. Long-stroke damper travel and extended spring length absorb the surface aggression that gravel-stage competition and rallycross produce, keeping the front axle planted through the kind of rough section where a standard-height car would either skip off-line or ground out entirely.

What this coilover does for your 1999-2003 Nissan Maxima A33

The most immediate change on loose surface is front-axle composure. The A33’s natural push through corners – a consequence of its weight distribution as much as its FWD architecture – eases when the front dampers have the travel and spring rate to absorb surface break-up rather than transmit it directly to the steering. Inverted-tube construction shields the main damper body from stone strike and debris, a meaningful consideration when the front of a FWD car is working this hard through sandstone and silt. Extended suspension travel protects underbody components on crests and compression points where a standard-height setup would be grounding out.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

Built specifically for rally racing and rallycross, the Gravel Rally series addresses the most destructive road conditions in motorsport. The inverted-tube damper design keeps the working internals protected from stone strike and fine-particulate ingress across surfaces including sandstone, snow, and silt – the full range of conditions a gravel stage presents. Long-stroke construction and extended spring length allow the chassis to absorb high-speed bounce and the extreme lateral G-force generated under hard direction changes, without the suspension running out of travel at a critical moment. Spring-rate settings were developed and validated by rally racing teams in actual competition rather than theoretically mapped on a test rig, which means the calibration reflects real stage conditions rather than controlled-environment assumptions.

Fitment for the Nissan Maxima A33 (1999-2003)

This coilover kit is confirmed for the Nissan Maxima A33 chassis, covering the full 1999 to 2003 production span. The A33 is a front-wheel-drive executive saloon on VQ-series V6 power, sold across European and Japanese markets with minor specification differences; confirm your model year and trim against the fitment tab before ordering.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

  • Pillow ball + rubber top mountPillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.
  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.
  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
