XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow Coilovers — Mitsubishi COLT 1987-1992

Loose-surface running is what the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover is built around, and the late-1980s Mitsubishi COLT – light, front-driven and short in the wheelbase – is exactly the kind of car that rewards a damper with real stroke underneath it. This kit gives the MT06 the suspension travel it needs to stay planted when the surface drops away beneath it, rather than slamming into its bump stops mid-corner.

That extra travel front and rear is the headline. On gravel and snow the Colt’s modest kerb weight means it skips over ruts and crests, and a longer-stroke damper keeps the tyres loaded through the disturbance instead of pattering across the top of it.

What this coilover does for your 1987-1992 Mitsubishi COLT

On a stage or a rallycross loop, the longer front and rear travel buys a bigger buffer before the suspension runs out of movement, so the Colt stays settled over jumps and broken ground that would upset a shorter road damper. The enlarged oil and nitrogen gas volume is the part you notice late in a run: shock temperature climbs more slowly, so damping stays consistent rather than fading as the oil overheats across a long stage. Three independent adjustment knobs let you set the car for the grip on the day – softer for deep snow, firmer for hard-packed gravel. The trade is a faint noise as oil moves through the small internal passages over the biggest hits, which is normal for this design and a sign the valving is working.

About the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover

The Pro Racing Gravel/Snow is engineered first for rally and rallycross, where suspension travel and thermal stability matter more than outright low ride height. Front and rear strokes are extended over a circuit-biased coilover to give the car a larger buffer distance, which is what keeps it stable when a wheel drops into a rut or lands off a crest. Inside, the dampers carry a greater volume of suspension oil and nitrogen gas; the extra fluid resists the heat build-up that exhausts a smaller damper after sustained hard use, holding damping force steady deep into a run. Adjustment runs through three separate knobs, and the small-orifice valving that gives the kit its bump compliance can produce a slight working noise over the largest impacts. The construction is rugged enough for circuit tracks, where surface bumps are no concern, but it is the longer travel that sets it apart on the rough.

Fitment for the Mitsubishi COLT (1987-1992)

This kit is built for the MT06-chassis Mitsubishi COLT across the 1987 to 1992 model years. Confirm your chassis code and build year against the selector before ordering, as fitment is specific to this generation of Colt and does not carry across to later cars.

Set your spring and damping preferences for the surface you run most, then configure your Pro Racing Gravel/Snow kit below.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. With longer travel for both front and rear, it increases bigger buffer distance to keep the car stable. The most advantages of this product is to extend the amount of suspension oil and nitrogen gas which can increase the stability of the shocks and prevent the shock oil temperature too high from being exhausted after long-term use.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.
