XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Honda STREAM RN6/7/8/9 2006-2014

The Honda Stream RN6/7/8/9 is an unusual rally weapon – a tall-ish seven-seat MPV riding on Civic FD underpinnings, with the front-strut / rear-multi-link layout that made the Civic such a willing chassis on B-roads. That extra ride height and the longer wheelbase work in your favour on a stage; what doesn’t work is the factory damping, which was tuned for school runs in Saitama, not for the compressions and crests of a sealed-stage tarmac event. This XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally coilover is built specifically for that job.

For drivers running an RN6 1.8 or the RN8 2.0 R on UK tarmac rallies, club sprints, or fast B-road blasts, the brief is the same: hold the body flat through long fourth-gear sweepers, absorb the kerb-strikes and broken edges without unloading the inside front, and keep the contact patch planted when the surface goes from glassy to ragged inside ten metres.

What this coilover does for your 2006-2014 Honda Stream Rn6/7/8/9

Drop the ride height, kill the soft-MPV pitch under braking, and the Stream starts to behave like the Civic FD it shares a platform with. The damping is set to soak up surface inputs that would jolt a track-spec coilover off-line – mid-corner ruts, expansion joints, the lip of a tarmac jump – while still controlling the body weight through transitions. You feel it most on a stage that mixes smooth black-top with patched repairs: the rear end stops skipping out, and the nose stops washing wide on bumpy turn-in. Adjustable height lets you set the right rake for tarmac (slight nose-down) without losing useful suspension travel, which matters on an MPV-derived chassis that already sits higher than a saloon.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

This is a damper engineered for sealed-stage tarmac rallying, not for circuit work and not for gravel. The valving is set to absorb the impact of uneven pavement – the jolt of a big bump, the slap of a kerb edge – so that body shock is suppressed and the tyre’s traction stays available rather than getting bounced off the road. The settings come directly from XYZ Racing’s tarmac rally programme; this isn’t a fast-road kit relabelled for stage use. Construction follows XYZ’s coilover platform – adjustable height, damping calibrated for the surface profile of UK sealed events, and a spring rate window matched to a road-rally weight distribution. The point of the kit is vehicle stability when the surface stops being predictable: the chassis stays composed, the steering stays linked to the front tyres, and you stay on the throttle for longer.

Fitment for the Honda STREAM RN6/7/8/9 (2006-2014)

This kit is built for the second-generation Honda Stream on chassis codes RN6, RN7, RN8 and RN9 – the 2006-2014 production run covering the 1.8-litre R18A front-drive cars, the 2.0-litre R20A RSZ, and the four-wheel-drive RN9 variant. Confirm your chassis code on the VIN plate before ordering.
