XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Honda CIVIC FD1 (Modified Rear Integrated) 2006-2011

The FD1 Civic left Honda’s production line as a front-wheel-drive family saloon, not a rally car, and its factory dampers were tuned for tarmac commuting rather than sandstone ruts or a silt-covered forestry stage taken flat in fourth. XYZ Racing’s Gravel Rally coilover for the Honda Civic FD1 (2006-2011) rebuilds that end of the car around the reality of a loose-surface stage: repeated big compressions, a nose that wants to dive under trail braking into a hairpin, and a rear axle that needs to stay planted over a crest instead of stepping sideways.

This spec is built for gravel and rallycross use, not fast-road driving or tarmac time attack. Where a Circuit Master or Super Sport kit is tuned around grip and body control on smooth asphalt, the Gravel Rally unit is built to survive a battering – sustained vibration, sudden G-spikes through compressions, and the grit that finds its way into everything on a stage. It’s suspension for an FD1 built to compete, not to commute.

What this coilover does for your 2006-2011 Honda Civic FD1 (modified Rr Integrated)

On the FD1, the biggest gain shows up under compression. Gravel stages hit a chassis with big, repeated impacts – washboard sections, hidden dips, badly cambered crests – and the standard dampers on a car built for UK B-roads were never specified for that duty cycle. The inverted-tube construction and the long stroke and long spring combination give the rear end room to absorb a hit without the shock running out of travel and slamming into its bump stops, which matters on a front-wheel-drive chassis like the FD1 where the rear needs to stay settled while the front is doing the steering and the braking. Through the G-forces a stage throws at the car sideways as well as vertically, the longer spring keeps the wheel loaded rather than letting it skip across loose ground, which is where a Civic on gravel actually loses time. The result is a rear axle that tracks straight over rough surfaces instead of stepping out mid-compression, and a front end that keeps working rather than bottoming out on the third hit of a rhythm section.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

XYZ Racing’s Gravel Rally coilover exists for one job: rally and rallycross on loose surfaces, which the brand rates as the most demanding road condition across its motorsport range. The damper uses an inverted-tube layout specifically to cope with changing surface conditions – sand, snow, silt – without the internals fouling on debris the way a conventional tube arrangement can. A long stroke paired with a long spring lets the unit absorb chassis vibration from washboard and rutted ground and shrug off the G-forces generated when the car is thrown into a stage corner at speed, rather than transmitting every hit straight into the chassis. Every spring rate offered in this range has been set and confirmed by a rally racing team running the car in competition, not calculated on a bench, so the rates reflect what holds together over a full stage rather than a single fast lap.

Fitment for the Honda Civic FD1 (modified Rr Integrated) (2006-2011)

This kit is built for the Honda Civic FD1, chassis code HN22-1, across the 2006 to 2011 production run, with the rear end specified for the modified rear-integrated mounting used on this fitment. Confirm your car matches the HN22-1 chassis code before ordering, since Honda ran several FD-generation variants over this period with different rear mounting arrangements.

If you’re building an FD1 for stages rather than showroom stops, pick your spec below and configure the Gravel Rally coilover for your Civic.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

Front

  • Pillow ball + rubber top mountPillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.
  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.

Rear

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
