XYZ Racing Racing Spec Coilovers — Ford TIERRA 1998-2002

The Ford Tierra is the kind of car that never quite got its due in Europe – a Mazda 323/Familia underneath, sold in Taiwan and across Asia as a Ford, and quietly one of the better front-drive chassis of its era for people who actually drive them hard. The Racing Spec coilover exists for owners who treat their FO20 Tierra as a circuit tool, not a daily, and need a damper with the rebound authority and bump control to survive repeat sessions at Lihpao, Penbay, or the closest equivalent on your map.

This is the deep end of the XYZ Racing range. Racing Spec is not a fast-road compromise dressed up in marketing – it is the damper XYZ developed through direct WTCC participation, and the settings carried over from that programme are what you are buying here.

What this coilover does for your 1998-2002 Ford Tierra

The Tierra runs MacPherson struts up front and a Mazda-derived twist-beam-adjacent rear, which means weight transfer onto the outside front under trail-braking is the dominant chassis behaviour you have to manage. The Racing Spec damper attacks that directly: the front struts have the low-speed compression to hold the nose flat into apex, and the rebound rates are tuned so the inside rear stays loaded rather than skipping over kerbs. On a Tierra with a stripped interior and a half-cage, you will feel the car rotate on throttle in a way the factory dampers never permitted. Ride height is fully adjustable independent of preload, which matters on a chassis this light – you can corner-weight it properly without running the springs into coil-bind.

About the Racing Spec coilover

Racing Spec is XYZ’s circuit-only platform, developed and proven through direct participation in WTCC and adjacent touring-car series. The damping has been signed off in race conditions rather than on a dyno bench, which is the meaningful distinction – rebound curves are set for repeat heat cycles and high-frequency kerb input, not for showroom plushness. Where Racing Spec separates from the rest of the catalogue is the custom-build pathway: for cars running aggressive upgrades, factory-spec race builds, or A-class race regulations, XYZ will build bespoke shock absorbers around your spec sheet and your home circuit. Send them the build list and the venue, and the dampers come back valved for that combination. Construction is monotube with the high-pressure gas charge and oversized piston the platform’s heat tolerance requires.

Fitment for the Ford Tierra (1998-2002)

Direct fitment for the FO20 chassis Ford Tierra across the full 1998 to 2002 production span. The kit covers all four corners with adjustable ride height and damping at each damper. Confirm your exact trim and any prior subframe or strut-tower modifications before ordering, particularly if the car has already moved off the standard 323/Familia hardpoints.
