XYZ Racing Racing Spec Coilovers — Ford TELSTAR 1993-1997

The GE-series Telstar is an unusual thing to be specifying race coilovers for in 2026, and that tells you something about the owner. This is a mid-90s Mazda 626 platform wearing a Ford badge, front-wheel drive, MacPherson-strut front, multi-link rear – a chassis that responds well to proper damping because the factory hardware was tuned for comfort, not for repeat heat cycles on a circuit.

The Racing Spec is the right pick when the Telstar is no longer a daily and the agenda is lap times. It is the most aggressive damper in the XYZ Racing range, with settings derived from WTCC-level circuit work rather than transferred from a generic fast-road tune.

What this coilover does for your 1993-1997 Ford Telstar

Strut-front saloons like the GE Telstar lean on their dampers harder than most owners realise once cornering loads go up. The Racing Spec controls the front-end roll that the original equipment simply cannot, so trail-braking into a fast right-hander stops feeling like an event and starts feeling like a decision. Camber gain through the strut travel becomes usable instead of theoretical. At the rear, tighter damping over the multi-link means the inside wheel stays loaded under power, which on a front-drive car of this era is the difference between drive and wheelspin out of a slow corner. Ride height comes down enough to reduce centre-of-gravity meaningfully without binding the geometry.

About the Racing Spec coilover

The Racing Spec is XYZ Racing’s circuit-focused damper, and the settings have been developed inside real race programmes including WTCC participation rather than guessed at on a dyno. That heritage shows up in how the valving handles repeat lap loads – kerb strikes, brake-bias transfer, the loaded outside front through a long constant-radius corner. XYZ Racing also build custom variants of the Racing Spec for owners running heavily upgraded cars or specific A-class race configurations; supply the circuit you intend to run and the parts list of the car, and bespoke valving is an option for those running far outside the standard spec. For most Telstar owners the standard Racing Spec valving will be plenty – this is a 1.8-tonne front-drive saloon, not a tube-frame prototype.

Fitment for the Ford Telstar (1993-1997)

This kit is built for the GE-generation Ford Telstar, chassis code FO18, covering model years 1993 to 1997. It is a direct-fit coilover assembly for the standard strut and damper locations on that platform.

What buyers also search for

  • Ford Telstar GE coilover for circuit and time-attack use
  • 1993-1997 Telstar suspension upgrade beyond fast-road specification
  • Racing-derived damping for older front-wheel-drive saloons
  • Track-day coilover for the Mazda GE-platform Ford Telstar
  • WTCC-developed damper settings for a 90s strut-front chassis

The Racing Spec is a specific tool for a specific job – if circuit work is the brief, configure yours below.

Racing Spec damper is specially made for track race, and all settings have been obtained from direct participation in racing event such as WTCC. In some circumstances, particular custom-made shock absorbers are available for those cars that have aggressive upgrades like factory’s racing vehicles or A-class racing cars etc…You may provide us with detailed info on all upgraded parts in your car and what circuit you will run, and we are able to make custom shock absorbers for your personal car.
