XYZ Racing Pro Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — BMW 5 SERIES E39 8 CYL excl. Wagon 1995-2003

The E39 5 Series with the V8 sits nose-heavy over a long wheelbase, and that mass wants to keep travelling in a straight line exactly when a drift car needs it to rotate. The Pro Racing Drift Spec coilover is built around that problem: getting a two-tonne executive saloon to break traction predictably, hold an angle, and catch cleanly instead of snapping.

This is a competition-focused kit, not a fast-road compromise. It drops ride height while keeping enough bump stroke in reserve that the rear axle stays controlled through weight transfer, which on the E39’s V8 chassis is the difference between a clean transition and a car that overwhelms the driver mid-slide.

What this coilover does for your 1995-2003 Bmw 5 SERIES E39 8 CYL excl. Wagon

Drop the ride height correctly on this kit and the E39’s centre of gravity comes down with it, which matters more on the 8-cylinder cars than the four-pots because there’s simply more mass to manage at the limit. The three external adjustment knobs let you tune compression and rebound independently front and rear, so you can set the car to initiate rotation on throttle lift-off without the rear stepping out uncontrollably. Because the internals are designed around that lowered ride height and shortened stroke, body roll during the transition into a slide is noticeably reduced compared with stock or a general-purpose coilover, which keeps the tyre’s contact patch working instead of folding under load. On a chassis this heavy, that stability at the point of rotation is what lets a driver commit to an angle rather than back off.

About the Pro Racing Drift Spec coilover

XYZ Racing built this line specifically around drift competition rather than adapting a circuit-focused design. The internals use a small oil-hole passage architecture through the three adjustment knobs, which is a deliberate trade-off: it sharpens the damping response needed to hold a controlled slide, at the cost of some minor operating noise when the car crosses bigger bumps or kerbing – a known and expected characteristic of this design, not a fault. The kit is engineered for circuit and track environments where repeated high-speed direction changes are the norm, and the reduced ride height combined with the tuned bump stroke is what lets the car settle into an angle rather than porpoise through it. It’s a setup built for drivers who need the chassis to do exactly what’s asked of it, corner after corner, rather than one tuned for comfort or daily use.

Fitment for the Bmw 5 SERIES E39 8 CYL excl. Wagon (1995-2003)

This kit is fitted to the E39-chassis 5 Series built between 1995 and 2003, specifically the 8-cylinder V8 variants – non-wagon body styles only. Confirm your car matches the E39 8-cylinder specification before ordering, as damping and spring rates on this kit are set around that engine and chassis combination.

This suspension is especially designed for Drift racing purpose. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowering the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.

  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.

Rear

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
