The E39 M5’s V8 brought 400bhp to a chassis that was never short of body mass to control, and the standard dampers give up long before the tyres do once you start stringing corners together on a circuit. The Circuit Master coilover replaces that compromise with a setup built specifically for sustained lap-time work, not the occasional B-road blast.
For a 5 Series carrying its V8 over the front axle, keeping the nose settled under trail-braking and the rear planted on corner exit is the whole game. This is where Circuit Master earns its name – repeat-lap consistency rather than a single quick fastest lap.
What this coilover does for your 1995-2003 Bmw 5 Series E39 8 CYL excl. Wagon
With 9720 damping combinations on tap through the kit’s three external adjustment knobs, you can set compression and rebound independently front and rear to suit the E39’s nose-heavy balance – firmer up front to check dive under braking, controlled rear damping to keep the diff and subframe settled through direction changes. That range of adjustment matters on this chassis specifically: the V8 cars sit heavier over the front wheels than the six-cylinder 5 Series, so a damper that can be leaned harder toward the front without upsetting rear grip is the difference between a car that pushes wide mid-corner and one that turns in cleanly lap after four laps in. Ride height comes down with the threaded body, lowering the centre of gravity and reducing the weight transfer that a big, heavy saloon is otherwise prone to under hard cornering.
About the Circuit Master coilover
Circuit Master sits at the top of XYZ Racing’s range as the design built for circuit-focused cars rather than fast-road use, and it has been developed and run by XYZ’s own racing teams on international circuits over an extended test programme. The damper uses a monotube-style construction with a small-orifice oil-passage design feeding the three external adjusters, which is what unlocks the 9720-way adjustment range in the first place – a by-product of that design is a faint noise from oil passing through the small passage over sharp bumps, which is a normal characteristic of a circuit-oriented valve and not a fault. It’s built around the reality that track surfaces are smoother and more consistent than the road, so the tuning bias sits toward outright body control rather than bump compliance. The result is a damper aimed at drivers doing repeated sessions on a circuit, where the goal is holding a consistent, predictable platform through every lap of a session rather than the first one.
Fitment for the Bmw 5 Series E39 (1995-2003)
This kit is built for the E39-generation 5 Series 8-cylinder cars, excluding the Touring/wagon body, across the 1995-2003 production run. Confirm your car matches the E39 8-cylinder saloon/coupe specification before ordering, as the wagon variant uses a different rear geometry and is not covered by this fitment.

Pick the damping range and ride height for your E39 build below, and configure yours to match how you’re actually using the car on track.
Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.
Top mounts included with your kit
Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.
Front
Pillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.
Hardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.
Rear
AluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
