XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — BMW 4 SERIES G26 (2WD/4WD) 4/6CYL (Modified Rear Integrated) 2020-2026

The G26 Gran Coupe carries more body than the G22 coupe it’s based on – a longer wheelbase and a fastback tail that add weight over the rear axle without adding any of the axle hardware to control it. Run that mass across a broken tarmac stage at speed and the factory dampers give up long before the tyres do, letting the rear step out of line over crests and compressions instead of loading evenly into them.

XYZ Racing’s Tarmac Rally coilover is built for exactly that surface. It’s tuned to absorb the impact of broken and uneven pavement rather than just soak it up, so the chassis stays settled when a stage throws a sequence of compressions at you rather than one clean bump.

What this coilover does for your 2020-2026 Bmw 4 Series G26 (2wd/4wd) 4/6cyl (Modified Rr Integrated)

On a rally-spec 420i or 430i G26, the biggest change you’ll feel is what happens after the wheel meets the bump, not before it. The damper is set up to absorb the jolt through a big hit rather than transmit it into the body structure, which keeps the rear multi-link doing its job of keeping the tyre in contact with loose or cambered surfaces instead of skipping. That contact patch stability is what actually delivers traction on tarmac rally stages – a car that stays planted through a compression can get back on the throttle earlier out the other side. Owners running 2WD rear-drive G26s will notice the improvement most under braking into a hairpin, where the previously soft rear end now holds its line instead of stepping wide; 4WD xDrive cars feel it as steadier front bite when the power comes down early out of a bend.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

This is a damper built specifically around one job: taking hits on broken tarmac without unsettling the car. Internally it’s set up to suppress body shock rather than let it travel through to the chassis, and to keep the tyre loaded through the impact instead of letting it skip clear of the surface – that’s what XYZ Racing means when they talk about protecting traction over rough sections. The valving comes directly from XYZ’s own tarmac rally programme rather than a generic fast-road baseline, so the compression and rebound behaviour is shaped around stage driving – repeated hard compressions in quick succession – rather than a single smooth b-road sweep. For the G26’s Modified Rr Integrated rear end, that means a unit engineered to work with the multi-link geometry as fitted, not a bolt-on adapted from a simpler axle design. The result is a chassis that holds its attitude through a rough section instead of pattering and searching for grip.
