XYZ Racing Top Sport Coilovers — BMW 4 SERIES F82 M4 (Modified Rear Integrated) (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2014-2020

The F82 M4 left the factory with electronically controlled adaptive dampers doing a job a spring and shock normally handle on their own, which is exactly why a serious coilover swap on this chassis needs a cancellation kit to shut that system down properly rather than leave the DME hunting for a sensor that no longer exists. XYZ Racing’s Top Sport coilover replaces the factory strut and EDC damper with a manually adjustable unit, built alongside the modified rear integrated link this chassis needs to keep its multi-link geometry correct once the car sits lower.

Where the factory set-up is tuned to hide the F82’s kerb weight and torque under comfort-biased damping, Top Sport uses a firmer base rate so the S55’s power delivery doesn’t unsettle the rear axle mid-corner. It sits at the fast-road-plus-track-day end of the range rather than full motorsport spec, so it keeps enough compliance for UK B-roads while controlling the tendency to squat hard on corner exit.

What this coilover does for your 2014-2020 BMW 4 Series F82 M4

Fitted to the F82, the Top Sport kit’s increased damping force and spring rate give the rear axle something firmer to push against when the six-cylinder unloads torque out of a corner, which is where this chassis is most likely to step out of line. Turn-in sharpens because the body roll that would normally load the outside front tyre now happens faster and with less delay, and the modified rear integrated link keeps the multi-link geometry within spec so the added stiffness doesn’t fight the suspension’s camber curve. Ride height adjusts independently of spring preload, so you can drop the M4’s stance without compressing the dampers into the harsh end of their travel. Cancelling the factory electronic damping control cleanly means no fault codes on the dash and no default-damping fallback mode running against the new passive set-up.

About the Top Sport coilover

Top Sport is built from XYZ Racing’s own track day testing, increasing damping force by roughly 30 to 50% and spring rate by around 2kg/mm over a standard street coilover. That extra resistance controls the way a heavier, more powerful car like the M4 loads its suspension over broken tarmac and kerbs, taking the edge off big hits so the tyre stays in contact with the road instead of skipping across it. The shock body is damped harder to resist the compression and rebound spikes a fast car generates under braking and on corner exit, which is where a softer street coilover would start to wallow. It’s aimed at drivers doing track days and quick road driving who still want the M4 usable the rest of the week, rather than a stripped-out full race spec.

Fitment for the BMW 4 Series F82 M4 (2014-2020)

This kit is built for the F82 M4, chassis code BM93-C, covering the 2014 to 2020 production run. It’s specified for the modified rear integrated link configuration, and includes the cancellation kit needed to disable the factory electronic damping control so the coilovers run as a fully passive set-up.

By increasing 30~50% damping or 2kg/mm spring rate than street setting; it can absorb the impact of uneven pavement. It is able to absorb the jolt when across a big bumps, effectively suppress shock body and to increase tire’s traction. Vehicle stability makes you can experience perfect handling.
